Vulcan XH558 coming to the Midlands on Saturday 29/9

Hi guys

Just to let you know that as part of her season-finale tour, XH558 will be visiting Birmingham airport, Coventry airport and RAF Cosford this Saturday afternoon (subject to weather and serviceability).

The Trust are expected to announce approximate times on Friday, if you are interested in seeing her for the last time in 2012 please keep your eye on our website Home | Vulcan To The Sky

Thanks
Aggy

I live near Cosford so hope to see this, several years ago a Vulcan did a demonstration at Cosford air show, it flew in low and slow to sneak up on the air field our house was directly under its flight path the first I new was when it went dark it put the whole house in complete shadow. As it got close to Cosford it turned on the power and from two miles away just made everything shake.

We have seen some impressive demonstrations for the air show but the display the Vulcan put on that day was amazing, it is a big plane but the pilot flung it around the sky like it was fighter plane and on full power in a climb the noise and vibration absolutely awesome.

Route now published on our website:
Vulcan To The Sky - XH558's Diamond Jubilee Tour

I believe she's due round our neck of the woods around 1530.

She could use some help with her petrol if anyone can spare a couple of quid (honestly, she's just like my Alfa, never got enough )

I went over to Bagington and watched from Rowley Road. She flew in from the direction of Shilton/Wolvey, made a low pass along the length of the runway and went off towards Birmingham. I'm not surprised you didn't hear it because we could hardly hear it either. The engines were barely off idle and such a low height was being maintained that hardly any power was needed to get back up. Appeared to come in from and leave at around 3-5000 feet? Nothing special in Vulcan terms but very special in aviation terms every time you see it
My son and I had a great afternoon, a blast in the GTV, saw the Vulcan and did the museum (again!)
