Le Mans - any interest?

Right...

Kristie and I are going to Le Mans this year - 11th and 12th of June. We've had a good shufty around and are looking at the following options:

Eurotunnel on Thursday 9th, returning on the Monday 13th is 100 return
Camping and general admission tickets at Bleu Nord are 112 per person (less if there are more people in your car - but we can only fit two of us in Mia the MX5).

We're also looking at booking a hotel on the way back on Sunday night to have a shower and sleep in a real bed.

We're planning to book on Sunday, so if anyone wants to join us we can look at options to reduce the costs if there are more people booking at the same time. I'm happy to coordinate

Dammit, I'm excited!!!

I went down in a convoy of exotica a few years back although I was driving to a Git in Descartes and hadn't realised it was race week and only hit one speed trap on the way and that was sign posted with enormous signs for about 2 miles before you got to it.

There are lots of hidden radar traps with the police bikes and cars hidden further down the road.
If you are unlucky and get caught doing some big numbers you can be in for a €750 fine or in extreme cases they confiscate your car.

I was at the back of a convoy with a couple of DB9's and a DBS doing serious leptons when I went under a bridge that had a radar, as soon as I saw them I slowed down but as far as I was concerned I was going to be nicked. I kept driving for a bit an saw one of the DB9's parked up with Le Plod, no-one else had been pulled.

I drove a little bit more sedately upto the Ferry and chalked that experience up as a very close shave and not to be repeated
You're a bad man

That's a lovely part of France. We're looking for a house down that way in the Claise or Creuse valley.

Same again this year guys....

This year it's the 16th and 17th June.
We're looking to book within the next week or so. Again, there isn't any spare space in whichever car we chose to go in (either Daisy or Layla) BUT you can have up to four people on a camping pitch with car parking available elsewhere.

Let me know if you're interested. I'm happy to coordinate bookings so if there's a group of us we are on adjacent pitches.

What we did last year worked really well:
Drove down south after work Wednesday, stayed overnight in a travelodge/similar with beers.
Lie in and breakfast followed by Eurotunnel and arriving at Le Mans early Thursday afternoon.
Returning Monday, we were home by 7pm Monday evening.
And to whet your appetite, if you can see them, here are a few snaps from last year: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?...0925566&type=1

Having done it a lot of times since 1988 the best way for those us oop north is Hull/Zeebrugge. The ferry is your bed for the night each way, the Channel crossings are slightly cheaper but approx 200 road miles further each way and leave the problem of overnight stay or a brutal 650+ mile non-stop run each way. Ok for you southerners!
