My mug

I was given this mug by my girlfriends mum when I was heading off to Uni in 1991.

Its been through a divorce, 4 house moves, 3 kids and I still drink from it every day.

It comes to my office, goes out in the garden, gets oily in the garage, sits by my bed.

Its comforting having something that's just there with you through life. It's seen every facet of my life, from the joyous moments to the lowest one's.

Anyone else have a special mug?

Yep, whilst it can't compete with yours, I have 2, one for work, and one for home, both presents from my mam.

Home one is a Paddington Bear one, which I've had for donkey's, I used to love Paddington as a kid, and that's the one that gets the abuse, oily fingerprints, occasional drops - it's the only mug I'll drink from if I have a hangover too.

Work is a Battersea Power Station one which cost a whopping £12 from London's South Bank shop - which was a silly gift it to celebrate my new career - 6 years and I've drank out of it every working day - the office knows it's my cup, and to keep their grubby mitts off!

Don’t have a mug, but have some items that have trekked about with me for years and I totally appreciate the magic of something that you’ve carried with you over the years, something that has remained static no matter how much your life has changed or evolved. They’re quite reassuring in a way.

One’s a very tatty but loved Alfa key ring that came with that very short lived Alfa mag from the late 80s (I’ve forgotten the name of it now.) That key ring has been used since 1989. Its leather has long gone and so too has some of the enamel from the badge but it’s still in daily use; now my office keys/alarm fobs hang off it.

I’ll take a pic of it soon as I don’t have the keys with me right now.

A driver is always faithful to a car that's always faithful to its driver.

Sometimes in the darkest hour, love comes shining through.
Then it doesn't seem so far from me to you.

The train :(

At home I have a mug that is an album cover of the wonderful and frightening world of the Fall.

At work, I have one with my name on it.

Can we get Alfa Owner mugs?

All Alfa Owners are mugs, apparently.

Yes, we might as well all get Green Flag / AA mugs for when bits fall off the AO mugs....

Mickey Mouse.

I had to retire it, since it was going to get broken...

The replacement (a rather handsome "Moto Guzzi" jobbie) did get broken..

At the moment, a "Rugby (World Cup) 95" mug that I've been using for a while.. I think it dates back to the mid-1990's but I'm not sure.
