Watched GoldenEye last night for the first time in a while. Not sure how many Bond fans there are on here, but I think it's finally knocked The Living Daylights off my top spot for Bond films. Always had GoldenEye as second favourite, but watching it last night just re-established what a solid film it is and made me come to decide it is indeed better than TLD. Still got 90's synth and old school SFX to make it retro but borders on the modern, harder edged. And who could forget THAT scene?!

Onatopp in general 👌 Especially in that F355...

I still reckon Sean Bean would have been a cracking 007.

Not sure I'd give Goldeneye the plaudits though. I suppose it can be given credit for being about ten times better than any of the other Brosnan films.

He would have been a great Bond, although, his part in GoldenEye was fantastic! It's a shame Dalton never got to do his third film that was penned for 91/92.

Agreed on Brosnan's other Bond films. Never enjoyed his other three. I don't know what went wrong?! I don't mind Tomorrow Never Dies, can't stand The World Is Not Enough and I can't even begin to think about Die Another Day without shuddering...

I've said it before on this 'ere board, Dalton was a great Bond skewered by two crap plots. Brosnan - no. GoldenEye - no.

I lose track of the different Bond films. Was Goldeneye the one which opens with him doing a bungy jump down the face of a dam?

GoldenEye was watchable and Brosnan looked the part but from there it became ridiculous. The absolute low point being that ridiculous affair where the guy had diamonds embedded in his face. Cheesy, dated, quite naff.

The reboot with Mr Craig was about 10 years overdue.

I liked GoldenEye, there's probably some nostalgia here as it was the first Bond I was introduced to as a kid and I spent too many hours on the N64 playing the video game adaptation. Real world events helped the plot, M was great as was Sean Bean. It had great antagonists and the Bond girls were fighty. The DB5 keeping up with the F355 was a bit weird but apart from that it's easily Brosnan's best. I do struggle with Die Another Day... invisible Vanquishes and all... not their finest hour.

Ah Goldeneye for N64 was an absolute classic. I used to charge my schoolmates 50p a time to complete Facility in under 2 minutes to unlock one of the cheat modes

That takes me back, that sodding last level on Hard difficulty so you could unlock the Magnum.

Proper Yorkshireman seeing a business opportunity in Goldeneye, kudos

Not yet but it's on the list, I'm ploughing through the Resident Evil 2 remake (stunning) and Red Dead II. Is it worth a punt?

That recommendation though...

Is it Seen Baun, Seen bean, or Shawn Bawn?

Either way... I can't imagine him pulling it off with his propensity for the word "*******"

Yeah really good, nazi zombies multiplayer is particularly awesome. I've only got a PC for gaming, so looking for red dead 2 to become available at some point. Is the resident evil 2 remake still a 3rd person camera angle? I never liked that about the originals, much prefer a 1st person perspective.

Cool. I haven't played a COD since Black Ops II. I almost played that just for zombies which is properly addictive. Resi Evil II remake is like RE4, 3rd person over the shoulder but slick and a proper remake (but I am biased because I love them all).

Might give it a go, its available on pc.. By the way, if you played the original Half Life back in the day, then you really need to play Black Mesa. Quite possibly the best first person shooter ever.

Bizarrely, his real name is Shaun Bean, and he changed it to Sean so that it looks like it rhymes, even though it doesn't.

What's the James Bond film where Bond has to rescue Willard White from two feisty birds whom he has to fight in a swimming pool.. all the time while White, is presumably rooting for the girls to win..?

Anyway, that wasn't the best Bond film. I think that would be the one with Pussy Galore in it.
