We have Prime - cant wait tbh...

Seen a lot of interviews recently with the trio and it sounds like its been tough going - a lot of work (and Amazons cash) has gone into the new show.

Should be good

You can now get a Prime Video monthly
subscription instead of the full Prime membership.

Looking forward to it. I've signed for a year to see how it goes. 6 a show can't be bad.

Can it?

The Grand Tour - Official Thread

The Grand Tour was launched on Amazon prime as of last night.

12 weeks worth of petrol head heaven.

Watched the first episode this morning and it was briliant. Like they've never been away, lots of the same humour, basically taking the **** out of each other while driving fast cars.

I'm not going to give anything away about the first epsiode until more have seen it.

p.s look out for the nice VW gag

Vastly better than the Chris Evans effort.

That said, seeing another shot of a car going sideways was starting to get a little wearing.

I was thinking the same but with the cars they had it kind of had to be done.

Just watched it on amazon.com.

You can tell they have a vast budget. Very well shot.

Slightly disappointed there is nothing really new in this 1st episode.

It's good. But nothing vastly different than a good TG episode.
But worth watching anyway.

smug self regarding intro

crap, repetitive, seemingly endless sideways nonsense with stupid supercars

padding, naff jokes that Evans would have been shot for

This^ (Amazon have a few VERY good quality (original content) series - look like big movie budgets on a TV series). Tonight's opening sequence was impressive, all downhill after that...
The studio audience in the Californian tent were even more sycophantic in their hero adoration than any previous UK audience. Much of the script was cringeworthy and wooden in its execution. Throw enough money and production talent at an international show for petrol heads and it would be entertaining for the target audience in spite of, rather than because of the 3 presenters.
Pretty much what I expected, just like BBC TG but with bigger budget production and increasingly ageing, tired format.
I'll watch next week though.

I think some of the clips of upcoming 'stories' looked like fun - and that's generally what I'm interested in. I enjoy the mobility buggy up a big hill, make a van into a boat thing.

The opening sequence the other night was akin to Michael Jackson singing Earth Song at the Brits. I was waiting for the classy touch, the self-deprecating gag, the thing that would say "ok, we cocked up.....sorry.....we're bell ends......now let's have some fun". Instead, we got an almost messianic (certainly prodigal son) episode. If you rebuild a franchise even the Americans will come. The tone was off from the first moment. It was self-justifying, narcissistic, overweening and vainglorious bombast. A bit like that last sentence.

They're at their best when they make fun of themselves. They didn't do that at all. The mic bit at the start doesn't count. They've undermined that 'blokes c0cking about a bit' schtick by lamping producers and being nasty racists, and they'd have done well to just get back to some basics. Unfortunately they haven't really any regrets, it kinda worked out ok for them, and, let's face it, lamping producers and being a bit racist is catching the national mood. So why not?

My son and I enjoyed it a lot. Looking forward to next week! Killing the celebrities was brilliant.

There are some excellent shows on Amazon Prime at the moment - such a bargain.

The will be the show that boosts Amazon Videos
into the mainstream.

Even the BBC can't resist giving them free publicity.
