Cry Like A Baby GTA under water

Burst water mains in the gardens flooded my underground car park where my GTA was happily stored. The car sat in 1.5 meters of water for 24 hours before I could enter and rescue her. It has now been recovered to the dealer to see what the damage estimate is. It is likely to be classified as a total loss by the insurance. Gutted

Tell me about it. It was towed to the garage for damage assessment. So far it is around AED 70k (around 11k pounds)

I looked at this before I bought my car a few years back but I did not like the mileage. I think I will wait for the insurance $ then import one from Europe (maybe)

Just saw this thread, I would be devastated if that happened to me. Hope you have had it sorted or found another GTA to replace it with.

Did you get a good settlement from the insurers? And do you know what happened to the rest of the car?

Cheers

Got the equivalent of Eur 11k which is fair but considering i had just spent Eur 5k for cam belt service, all new AC system, tires and just had it insured, it actually sucks. I tried buying it back from the insurance to turn it into a track car but they never accepted my bid.

Now life is dull with driving a passat every day

Are you going to go and have a look at it? I think you should, you could let other people know whether it is as good as it was prior to the flooding. Or maybe you should buy it back yourself?

Description on website doesn't mention lack of swimming ability?

I test drove the car and mechanically it is fine. The interior however is far from perfect and not as the advert suggests and the body work has taken an amazing dive south. 50k is what i got from the insurance but it will need another 20k just to put it right again. It aches my heart to see it go but I don't think I would buy it for that price. I did make an offer of 25k which i think knowing what i know about the car is fair. Let's see
