Selespeed fixed (hopefully)

just want to share,

For past few weeks my Selespeed was acting really strange.
Flashing gears, random gear changing (2 to 5), dropping to N, sometimes not able to engage 1/2 from N.

FES was showing error for gear selection sensor and clutch position sensor.
Pressure is fine, within 45-55 bar.
EV tests all successful.

So I ordered the sensors from Ebay, and went to Al-Ahli today to replace it.

Have driven for 3-4 hours and so far gears are ok now.

These, plus similar Selespeed problems invariably prove to be due to sensor failures, and I've lost count of the number of sensor replacements I've had to pay for to date

Mine was 140K when I bought it in Jan, it's now at 155K.

I was advised by the garage to not use Selespeed or the stick-shift as they said "it's not a matter of IF it breaks, but a matter of when" ...

so basically, Alfa should have put below remarks in the service book.
after 100K, check or replace:
- sensors.
- accumulator.
- pump.
- electrovalves.

btw, any idea where I can get EV for the sele?
I only found 1 ad in ebay:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Genuine-Fiat-Selespeed-Valve-Stilo-Panda-500-Grande-Punto-Punto-Evo-Punto-Idea-/180851047252?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM& hash=item2a1b8ffb54

is there any difference between EV0-EV1 etc?
I just want to buy 1 incase mine fails in the future.

thanks

From what I know, all FIAT group share the same component so this should fit. Don't take my word as gospel though.

My GTA has just gone over 40,000km. The selespeed changes like new and I love it. It does jerk a little when cold but its perfect otherwise. I am dreading the day someone here has to fiddle with that system.

What I have been doing is changing the fluid and collaborating the system annually.

Lets see how far I can live to my reputation in keeping Alfas it fault free.

Cheers

just when i thought everything was okay, my pump died few days ago.
last week my friend came for short visit so i had to drove him to places.

at first it was making unusual humming sound, then just died.
tried to tapping the pump few times, changed the relay, still wont work.
Guess the pump got really tired because of the long drive in weekend.

so, with the help of a pal, (paypal LOL), 1500 AED and new pump coming today.

I really hope no more selespeed issues in the future

after reading all the post related to SELESPEED problem, i became confused now.
My 147 just stop to N and i couldnt change the gear after all. before that happened, i have a problem on my gearbox, seems like broken bearings and while im driving to mechanic - i saw my 5th gear was flashing already.
to make it short, no choice but called Recovery to reach the garage.
then when i got the car in driving condition, i paid Dh6000.
Sorry but really dont know what the parts the mechanic changed.
i was just informed need to change selespeed and repaired the gearbox.
