Thought I’d put this in its own thread to add to the knowledge base for future reference for others. I’d originally posted it in response to an air filter replacement thread but thought it might get a bit lost.
Anyone wanting a loud Brera or thinking of a sports exhaust, this is the sound of my manual 3.2 V6 without rear resonators - just pipes:
I couldn’t find anything like this recently when evaluating muffler options so it might help someone else later down the track.
In addition to the muffler delete, I have also replaced my OEM intake with an Apexi power filter (pod filter) which is a dry type filter – no need to oil etc. Sounds freakin great at wide open throttle coming up to redline.
I think it’s excellent - People that hear it love it - definitely loud, but not too loud (except the missus who sometimes complains). And bang for buck i reckon it's hard to beat!!!
Took it to the Pasta Run a few months ago and one of the guys in a 3200 Maserati I was chasing came up to me later and said he kept hearing this car and was looking for a Ferrari but all he could see was the Brera (true story).
The one thing, if you have the car under load (say up a hill) with the windows closed, going 90 - 100 kph, in 5th/6th gear, it's possibly a bit too noisy. Other than that - bloody nice.
Big thanks to my mate Chris (usually hangs out at Ausalfa – “ugame”) for editing the video.
This one’s got lots of revs in it – doesn’t exactly replicate your everday driving - I’ll try getting another vid maybe up in the hills with a better audio too.
