Talking had nothing todo red neck plenum

Well i was at a loose end so i thought i would try and make a larger plenum with junk and basic tools.

i had an old plenum
an old micro wave ( used stainless steel from the outside)
fibre glass
tin snips
paint
knife
rivet gun
short bit of 90mm alloy tube
angle grinder

took a couple of hours to make ( waiting for curing etc ) then a wait for painting times
sorry photos are not great , my camara is on the way out i think.

well it stopped me getting too bored when nothing was on the tv
what have you made while bored out of junk or spare parts

Looks pretty good but at the end of the plenum it should 1/2 the height of the throttle body side, because the air looses speed by the time it reaches the last cylinders and needs pressure.

Thx for your praise

I hear what your saying , im going to make a alloy one with an incline , But this should work ok for testing etc as the car is turbo charged with the 90mm induction through a 84mm throttle body.

But was just a mess about with scrap stuff to show we dont need to buy a 700 plenum to fit a f430 throttle, yes i know im a cheap skate

Look on some modern turboengines. No need for big throttlebody/piping.
If still not convinced, look on drag race specials piping and scale down the crossection to your HP figures. You'll be suprised.

Hi Yan i do believe you , But i got the Throttle 2 years ago very cheap so since i have it i thought i would fit it and the tb is based on 90mm piping so just easier to use that. but im only using it from the intercooler exit to the throttle.

This is the 1st car ive played with in over 20 years so im just realy have fun and making and fitting what ever i get cheap or can make and see what it ends up like.
I do read all your information threads and find them very interesting s thank you for your input.

This is not my final engine plan i have another to start which i will fix any mistakes i make on this 1st engine.
The new engine will be 3.0 based with a 2.5 bottom end with a shorter stroke and have a higher boost, but this will be a complete rebuild and balance of the engine taking my time with it.

Thanks again for your input i will take note of it all
