turbo for 2.0ts sele

Hey guys, I want more power out of my car so I want to install a turbo can my engine take it without any mods to the engine also I don't have the money for kits so I want to build it from scratch (the mechanic Wil not me ) will it be too much load for the engine? Also how will it affect fuel consumption?

Keep the boost at or below 0.4bar and stock internals will be fine. You'll need more fuel than OEM injectors can provide. You'll either need extra injectors into intake pipe and a small fueling only ECU to provide extra fuel when car is in boost - the OEM ECU still handles it all at off-boost situation. Or you can fit bigger injectors and map accordingly but mapping need specialist that costs money and fuel consumption suffers a bit.

I had a 146 2.0TS with extra injectors as mentioned - in highway cruising situation the car is lighter on fuel (14km/l vs 12km/l OEM), but in town it is a bit heavier on fuel (8km/l vs 9km/l) - the car made about 195bhp

To explain the injector selection needs - see the bottom of: RC Fuel Injection

You'll see for 150bhp (OEM power), 0.42 BSFC, 0.9 Duty cycle, 43.5psi fuel pressure the standard 190cc injector just makes it.

Now for lightly turbo'ed 190bhp, 0.52BSFC, 0.9 Duty cycle, 43.5psi fuel - you'll need 290cc fuel injectors total. So you'll need to get something like Volvo T4 injectors (314cc) or you need to add extra injectors for the extra 100cc per cylinder.

That is where an extra fueling ECU and two OEM (190cc) injectors just before the throttle will do fine - you'll need to pulse them twice each per firing sequence (two stroke mode) or you need 1 x 400cc injector that you pulse 4 times in one cycle (once for each cylinder)

For turbo selection - use Garrett Boost Adviser - Online | Turbobygarrett

Of course it will spit out Garrett options, but most understand that anyway and you can go shopping for cheaper alternatives. Again the Volvo T4 or T5's turbo will work nicely (the T4 / T5 here is for 4 cylinder / 5 cylinder - not turbo size) When you talk about turbo size T3/T4 hybrids are usually what 4 cylinder guys go for - but in that range - they usually aim for 1 bar + boost

Garrett GT2056 or GT2252 are the smallest that will work, the GT2554, GT2560 is the best midsized turbo's that'll work and the GT2854, GT2859 the biggest

So you see there are a lot of turbo's that could work - the smaller turbine (first two numbers 20 /22) will spool up quicker (lower lag) but will run out of steam earlier.
