Don't quite have the cash for a remap after sorting swirl flaps etc plus I've used them before with good results .

Hi, I've got a Bluespark CR Tech box that I used on my 147 JTDm for a while that I'm planning to get rid of. Not posted enough here yet to advertise in the classifieds!

Let me know if interested....(hopefully not against any rules)

Why are tuning boxes crap? I am sure that the cheap ones based on variable resistor are crap, but then so too a bad remap would be crap. If we consider a "good" tuning box and a proper remap what are the differences? If the end product is more power then it is perhaps a moot point how it is achieved unless one leads to more engine failures than the other.

I have a RaceChip tuning box on my GQV (and it works), although plan to change this for a remap when out of warranty for a more customised solution. Would be interested in an unbiased comparison.

tons of threads on here comparing the methods of both. I think there is a place in this world for both.

garryblueboy - I can't PM as I'm not a subscribed member and I'm out and don't have my card details with me. You can email my personal address at james_s(at)btinternet.com if you're interested

Hi I have a dtuk tuning box on my 156 sport and it's great, it's been on role road and it's 186bhp. The box came with the car when i bought it so I removed the box for a few months to see if I could get better mpg but made no difference. Put it back on this week and woooosh I have misted that extra poke.

Yes a tuning box from a vauxhall 1.9cdti engine will work on an alfa 1.9jtd. I do my own mapping and I see no problem with a tuning box, it has less chance of damaging the engine than most of the commercial maps I've inspected due to safetys being removed for over temping.

I've been using a CRTech box for 3 years now with no issues. More power and slightly better MPG.

I've had previous Alfa's (2.4 JTDs) remapped but I've come to the conclusion that the extra money isn't really worth it. The CR Tech box cost me 80.

You pays your money, you takes your choice . . .
