Giuleta's Ecu saves max speed?

I understand that at least with Porsche you can get a report from the Ecu listing how many times, how long and when the engine was over revved. So I conclude that the ecu is saving data.
My question is.. could it be that the my Alfa Romeo Giuleta's Ecu is saving max speed?
Could that be used to void a Warranty ?

Yes it does save overrev speed + some other data. Every modern engine ecu does.

So, if I buy one of that tuning boxes and god forbid I have some engine failure (not related) I disconnect it . I go to my dealer garage and they can prove that my car was running faster than it should , they can infer that I made something to achieve that performance and void my warranty.....
Conclusion : if I would like to tune my car I should wait to the end of my warranty... But when this happens I usually goes for the new model... So I will never do it.

With tuning box or remap you would not get higher top speed... you would just be at top speed faster...

it doesn't record car speed, just max rpm (times rev limiter is hit)

Tuning does not increase top speed? Is that a fact?

the top speed is determined by gearbox ratios and max engine speed (and wheel size).

It might be that oem power is not sufficient to allow you to achieve max rpm at top gear.

Overboost counter is something you should worry about in the GQV

What Coolbits is doing is stretching a point to make a point. As yan.ko is saying tuning will raise your max speed if you are not red-lining in top gear. By tuning at the top RPM (not mid-range RPM) you will add a few km/h to your top speed, not take it from 242km/h to 280km/h. Wind resistance is quadratic to your speed e.g.: 280km/h is 16% faster than 242km/h, but you need at least 34% more power to get there, let alone different gear ratios.

When I put 205/50R16 semi-slicks on my SW - I managed to red-line top-gear, and on GPS that was 235km/h but with 225/40R18's I could not get red-line and end speed was 240km/h

I shared with the people of Racechip my fears about Tuning Box vs Warranty Voided and this is what they said

"If you uninstall the chip one week before going to the shop they can’t see that a chip was installed."

I infer from this that they assume that the Ecu is really saving data that could potentially void a warranty , but the storage space is limited, so the Ecu overwrites the memory with new data. That would explain why they recommend to disconnect the box one week before the service....the old data (the things that you did when the box was connected), will be replaced with the new data (grandma's driving)

also contacted the people of Squadra Sportiva former known as Novitek and they had a very different approach.
They suggest that I can erase the data regarding system faults or how many times the Rev limiter was hit with this 60 dollars toy.
