Egr cooler coolant pipes

For a 1.9 16v jtdm cf4
Getting ready for cambelt to be done and thermostat etc and want to get egr cooler taken off at the same time as egr is mapped out and blanked at exhaust manifold and inlet manifold.
I know my thermostats gone anyway but have always seen a longer warm up since egr was blanked, so as i see it my cooler is acting like a heat sink now bypassing the thermostat and constantly cooling coolant.
I dont know the internal routing of the coolant flow in the stat but can it be blanked rather than bypassed , as the bypass will still cool continuously to some degree although less than the egr cooler.
Also anyone know hose sizes at the cooler, the stat and the rail that it joins onto that runs over the exhaust manifold.
If its possible id rather blank than bypass and im sure a couple of silicone cap ends at the rail and the stat with good hose clamps will do the job.
Failing that 2 shouldered bolts cut and used as a plug with clips in the original hoses cut short will do.
If anyone knows it has to have a flow path , please advise
Ps found google size of 16mm on a vx site for the cooler pipes
Anyone confirm

ah nice! I had my waterpipe welded shut , but is leaking a tiny little bit, so I would rather use these caps next time.
