Crazed installing power chip in Alfa Romeo 147 1.6 120bhp

Hi guys,

Just purchased my first Alfa Romeo, which also happens to be my first car

Its a ** 147 1.6 TS lusso 3 door 2001 **

I am thinking of modding the car a little and came across these tuning chips which help gain around 20-30 BHP.
Here's an example.
Alfa Romeo 147 1.6 TS Petrol 25 BHP POWER CHIP - £24.99 : Tuning Wizard - High performance chip upgrades, fuel savers and much more, unleash your vehicles full potential.

The sellers claim it will increase BHP by around 25BHP. There's quitea few different ones on internet, all claiming different power gains.

Is it worth spending on something like this? Has anyone tried something similar on the same car model?
Any relevant modding tips to increase power will also be appreciated guys.

Thanks in advance

Maybe no replies will give you the hint that it is a load of rubbish. On the bright side if anyone was stupid enough to buy a £24.99 resister it won't feel so bad throwing it in the bin. The 1.6 prob isn't worth tuning so enjoy your first alfa in standard form until you get one with a more tunable engine.

To make the 1.6 go faster you have options:
1) sell it, buy a 2.0
2) 2.0 cams,inlet manifold,throttle body,decat, remap.
3) don't buy that chip. It's pants. It fools the Ecu into thinking the engine is cold and to richer the mixture. This will utterly hack the the lambda probes off. Big time.
4) suspension and brake upgrades worth 25hp any day.

Is this a comment about an individual car or should i be wary of them as a dealership ? they have some decent looking cars on autotrader

Thread might be dead, but it's a shame the scammers who sell those crappy resistors aren't. I can't believe they still sell them on eBay, must be a lot more stupid folk around than I imagined.

Sorry for the delay.

Nah, just that particular car. Didn't have a great experience with them either, the guy didn't seem to really care about getting a sale.

Car was in far worse condition than described. Nothing too harsh, but something that could have turned major if it had been left. I wanted £100 off asking, he wouldn't do it. So I went to £50, and he claimed that he had had an MOT and full inspection done () and it had been fully valeted and reconned. Nah.
