Brera exhaust note bah

hi. i purchased my first Alfa in December, a 2009 2.2 Brera petrol. I love its looks and the way its so sure footed but the exhaust note is very underwhelming. Im a complete novice at after market stuff so is there any helpful advice anyone can give me at getting a better exhaust note without shelling out 4 figures on it...?

And will i have to replace the whole exhaust?

thx in advance

Hi Anthony. I had a 2.2 Brera and was abit underwhelmed by the sound. You may have heard of the Mangoletsi Mod4, which is a tune and induction change. This makes an enormous difference to the noise, but obvioulsy not the exhaust. Get this done for sure. I expect Autodelta do something similar if Mangos is too far to go. I then had the back of the exhaust changed to a custom one, which sounded great, and retained the tailpipes so it looked totally standard. I can't remember what it cost, but I think about £400? L&M international did that for me, so you could have a chat with Carl. Be warned that an exhaust change is ikely to make it a bit boomy, but it is only a little unless you go nuts. Good luck.

I have a wizard system on my V6.

Sounds lovely - no reason why it wouldn't sound brill on a 2.2.

Prodrive boxes give a nicer note than standard, deeper, more thrummy if you get what I mean, but not obtrusive, theres a lot of sound deadening in the Brera so for you to hear it properly means signifcant increase in volume externally is required.

Search ebay or contact Veloces in London, they may have some in stock.

The prodrive boxes are lighter than standard and are exceptionally well made by Janspeed under licence, they do take a while to bed in though and you'll be polishing them on a weekly basis due to sheer amount of crap that builds up on them out if the exhaust.

I agree with GhostyDog, the Prodrive boxes are superb. On the S V6 the sound is lovely! At about 40mph in 5th gear, put your foot down a bit and you get a deep rasp from it which really hits the resonance of the exhaust. Makes people stop and look!

It does mean you drive around a lot looking for tunnels though!

Looking at your location perhaps a trip to Veloces is on the cards.
