2.4jtdm tuning chips

OK I know that the question has been asked, however is there anybody here who has actually bought and fitted a diesel tuning chip to their 159 2.4 jtdm off of ebay, AND what are the results, either dyno, MPG, real feel, or any impressions.... cheers Mars!

What you mean by chip? Do you mean dismantling the ECU or a tuning box add on?

I have tried the Italian Box which is a tuning box on a 1.9JTD with quite good results. In all honesty how ever you are better off getting in professionally re-mapped.

The tuning box took me from about 120bhp to 148bhp with no noticeable loss in fuel consumption. They are cheap, easy to fit and can be removed if required.

For about £60 and 5 minutes work in is a massive amount of BHP gain.

Yeah, was thinking about the tuning box. There's no one in Melbourne, Australia that does re-maps and the one place in Sydney last I checked charged thousands... so not an option... I'll try one of these cr2 boxes that claim it will take my 159 from 200bhp to 280bhp... we'll see. Thanks for the tip!

Talk to Gus at Alfatune. He's done mine but yes I'm in the UK. He does travel and ship stuff all over the world, he's a God when it comes to tuning Alfa's.

Last time I was there the courier turned up to collect a ECU for Oz.

Its not that bad I've worked over there but I was in WA working at Henderson Marine Complex moving jetty caissons for the Gorgon LNG Project up at Barrow Island.

Yes send Gus a email and see what he can do for you.

source a spare ecu, have it unlocked and use that while your original is in the mail

You said the tuning box you are looking at will lift your BHP to 280 from 200 no way the max you will get is 35 to 45 bhp .If you go to 280 it will put a lot pressure on your clutch

Brera 2.4 JTD

I had one fitted for over a year, got it dyno'ed at 216bhp 345ibs/ft I have since removed it and had it remapped, but to be honest I thought the chip was better.. It gave me a healthy dollop of torque when I most needed it, mainly overtaking fuel economy also marginally improved.

The remap is a lot more linear, and I am since having dpf issues, related to the remap, im not sure.

I have the chip and I'm thinking of selling it if anyone is interested? It a pro-bitz

Dyno sheet attached.

Oh and I can't have the dpf removed here cause its against the law, if for whatever reason I decide to sell the car it will not pass road worthy certificate here in Vic Australia without one, not so easy to fit one back on...
