Modding addiction

After following the Clogz and jbsmith1 thread I thought I'd give it ago on a 159. Must point out that I've had a great deal of help from Clogz by way of photos and support in person and by email. Big thanks.

Having had a oil pump failure and having to pull most of the bottom end of the engine apart to fix it, it gave me a great excuse to go the whole hog.

So It was time to start everything off with the Alfatune F1 remap / DPF / EGR Deleat. But starting with a high milage 06 159 it showed a few small issues. All the cars faults may I add.

Theres been a lot of work done getting the car ready from new intake manifold, DMF and clutch, why not while the engine was in bits, new exhausts cam due to failed rocker which took out the oil pump, swopping out the turbo to the newer Garrett cause Clogz had upgraded his to a huge new one, Koni suspension and Novitec srpings, AEM W/M injection, Alfatune De cat pipe, EBC discs and red stuff pads and the pier de la resistance the RS500 60mm intercooler upgrade.

IMG_0839.jpg

This was finished off today by the Aflatune exhaust. Gus also refined the F1 map to take advantage of all the above.

The result is I now have a car that went like a train, to a car that goes like a Saturn 5 rocket, but with no smoke.

Big thanks to Clogz, jbsmith1 and Gus at Alfatune.

Anyone who has watched any of these threads or contemplated a Alfatune remap, the icing and sprinkles on the cake was the exhaust today. The answer is simple. Roll up your sleeves bite the bullet and go for it, my face is still hurting from the grin. You get what you pay for.

Big thanks to all of the above.

The "Alfatune" full works
60mm Core Full size RS500 FMIC
AEM W/M Injection
Koni struts / Novitec springs
Grooved & Dimpled discs and pads
19" Prodrive wheels, Michelin Pilot Super Sport
Halo's HID's & LED's
Hub dyno'd at well over 500lbft at the wheels ! and that's limited.
Thats over 750 Nm for you figure fiddlers

Looking good Coxy, doing it for the 159ers! Not just those sporty Breras that can have fun!

Dare I ask what this has set you back?

Probably best not

To be honest its not that easy to work out as lot of the work I've done on the car really comes under maintenance but upgraded where I could, I also dropped on a lot of the parts at very good prices and as nearly all the work has been done by myself apart from the alloy welding I don't have to pay any labour cost.

I have two hobbies cars/bikes and shooting. Having a rough count up the mods cost me about the same as I spent on my last trap gun and its hard to say which I'll enjoy more, but theres only one I will use every day.

You can't take it with you spend it, drink it just don't give it away..

We meet up at the fountain in clent each month. Next one with weds the 27th.

There is a Cosford Midlands Breakfast Club meet - 15th March circa 9:00am, it's a great morning of non chavvy exotic cars and free entry to museum what more could you ask for....

Planes and helicopters yaaaaaaayyyyyyy

Nice. Do you have any videos of the 159?

How was your improvements when fitting WMI?

There is something special about driving a modded Alfa!!!

No sorry theres no vids yet, its really was all just finished on monday.

As for the W/M I'm using the middle sized nozzle you get with the AEM kit and there is a noticeable difference when its in use. I've yet to get it on the dyno and find out what you really get when its in use, Clogz was showing alomost a 25 bhp gain using the same set up, but only time will tell to see what I get on mine.

You right modded Alfa's and Lancia's just make you tingle, your's must give you a big tingle.

After reading all your experiments if she's running well, take a break, sit back and enjoy her

Bugger ! I blame the Skunk Works, my heads always messed up when I've seen the Brera in the flesh again.

Modding, modding !

Its all the Clogz's fault, not that I needed much if any encouragement TBH. But big tanks to Clogz's and jbsmith1 for their outstanding threads and personel help and support.

I found something else to mod I'd missed and a major upgrade from the 17" standard Lusso wheels.

Must admit the OZ Ultraleggera HLT's were on the top of the list, but these were the right price at the right time with tyres.

Love them to bits.

Just need bigger brakes now ! Could be time for the Clogz and JBsmith1 RS B7 front brake conversion. Dam !
