Remapping 159 1.9JTDm Qtronic

Hi,

This is my first automatic Alfa and I'm thinking of a remap, but want to know your experience. Is Qtronic going to adapt to higher torque and power or will it force unneccessary gear down-changes? How does this work in practice, anyone tried it?

Thanks in advance,
Greg

I'm not completly sure, but i've heard its the same transmision as the 2.4 , so it will handle more torque as the normal gearbox!

Please tell me more. How did the gear changes work. Was the logic for changing gears normal or did it shift to lower gear too often because of higher torque and power? Any gain accelleration wise, or just too high revs?

Thanks, Greg

Trick is in modifying the right maps... if you don't do it right the gearbox can behave a bit funky.

Hello. it has Aisin gearbox, same as 2.4jtd 159 alfas. Also volvo uses same, with diesel engined 2.4 cars, and even the 2200kg heavy duty xc90 with v8 engine and over 300hp uses same.

no problem with handling the torque

OK i found out its Aisin and can handle 440Nm, which is good. What i want to hear is 1st hand experience with auto-shift logic eg.: if at predefined speed i use 1/2 of pedal now it stays in 4th and accelerates, if i use just a bit more it'll shift to 3rd. Question; with more torque and same situation is it going to shift down earlier (as a result of higher torque), OR will it also stay in 4th (because of same amount of pedal) and just take advantage of higher torque while remaining in 4th gear? (which I want in this case!!)

Another member on here in KENT has a Q tronic 2.4 remapped and reports that it holds the gears a little longer due to the improved torque.
