Turbo Upgrade options for GQV???

Hi Tuning and Upgrade experts!

How does one go about finding out the limits of the GQV's stock K04 turbo?

How does one know its boost limitations?

Currently my car is on 264bhp mild map with a new map waiting for me at the tuners(current map only added 20bhp but in midrange not full power)

How does one know what the internals can handle without breaking it? Is there anyone with in depth knowledge about the GQV's motor and turbo?

Thanks
Giuli

Like I have told you before Guili,a lot more than that is possible and we have done over 16000miles now on stock internals(with more than we give to our customers, for obvious reasons)

Guili, talk to Gus !
This guy knows what he's doing and does it wright. He had my money to do my 159 and many, many others on here and I would go back to him in a hart beat. In fact I am as I'm doing a turbo up grade, different car I know but still.

Yes Gus...with my car we are moving in stages, car is boosting 1.4bar now with 235bhp on the front wheels right through the entire rev range...its really amazing how the car drives now, we can/could have upped boost to 1.6 but I wanted to drive it at 235bhp at the wheels for a while then ill up again.

Gus as per usual, ill ask you to tell me more lol...pm's are in order.

My focus was not to get total power but more power in mid range, we got that with 20bhp at the weels from 2000rpm to 4500rpm...we then replicated this today throughout the entire rev range, ill post graph during the weekend.

Gus if you had the opportunity to choose, what turbo would you suggest for a healthy and safe 300bhp at the wheels???

Without wanting to sound patronising,I think you are confusing wheel hp with engine flywheel hp,do you know how much engine hp your giulietta had to start with from the factory and how much 300 wheel hp that you want equates to at the flywheel(ie before losses)?

Yes I know, not confusing anything...300bhp at the wheels was a ballpark figure to get you to mention a turbo application as a viable upgrade for a GQV

What Gus is getting at is that for 300bhp on the(front) wheels you'd need to be aiming for 345~350bhp+... Given your car is rated at 235bhp it's going to take a lot(!) of work/experimenting....

As for your initial question....there's only one way to find out.

Good luck!

I think Guili standard power runs were pretty good, described as 'Wednesday' car lol ie came out the factory with more than the quoted power. But no doubt wheel hp should be pretty definitive in comparison to large differences in flywheel power due to variations in transmission loss.
