Well Happy The Red Dot remap day.

Finally got my car remapped today (after spending twenty minutes to work out how to get around the closed road)
)it got done by red dot racing for the lowly price of 200 for rolling road and a remap, i was told i should be looking at around 150-160bhp ish from the 1.9 jtd 8v, so at the first test the car made 129bhp Which was a nice surprise with 226 lbs ft torque, i asked for a non aggressive power curve to make the clutch and turbo last a little longer so off they went did there stuff and the second test came back with 169bhp and 294 lbs ft torque!! very happy thx Paolo also very nice to see some of the guys would have to liked to stay longer but kids need feeding...anyway i would deff recommend the guys at red dot for a remap. Also would like to thank jasons for sorting all this out good chap.

Good job I noticed my upper boost pipe, bloody inner bonnet skin has nearly sawn it in half with the movement of the engine back & forth.. Shouldn't be touching now but there's next to no room between the bonnet and the pipe, I'm going to have to shorten the boost pipe where it comes up the wing and lower the entry point into the manifold. Job for tomorrow evening I think

Very happy with the result from my 2.4 10v CF3 - its remapped, no EGR, front mount intercooler, throttle-body delete, CDA filter, 2.25" stainless cat-back, no AC compressor:

IMG_0424.jpg

It did get a bit of clutch slip on the rolling road on one of the runs, and makes a deep grumbly noise if I boot it in 4th or 5th from anywhere under about 2,200rpm, which my old remapped 2.4 10v CF2 also did; I'm suspecting DMF.. I will have to be careful with it

Bigger hammer has flattened the sharp lip down so its not cutting into the pipe anymore but its still touching the underside of the bonnet so need to modify the pipework.

Fair pleased with my re-map
Was 250 torque and 152 bhp........now 281 torque and 184 bhp.
Expected to notice more difference in the driving, but it is subtle but better when i need it

You had left by the time i got there James and it was pretty quiet

Sorry I missed you, I'd have liked to have hung around for longer but had to get back to the Wife and Nipper.

Any idea what James' 'F1' Brera fared?!?! Or couldn't the rollers cope?

Cheers, yes It wasn't quite the power figures I'd hoped for, car really needs mapping now for 2bar boost, but I couldn't resist a bargain price run on the rollers.

Yes good to meet everyone and chat, just abit too hot for me though, I see you got some good figures there Chubblows in the end, that GT of yours is the cleanest one I've ever seen!.
Thanks to Jasons for organising this, and the guys at Red-dot for a great day.

She's a cracker Chubbs. And it was extremely hot! Thanks to all involved.

I had a nice noise-off with a lovely dark-blue F355 though town on the way home. He was a good sport, a Pistonheader. No opportunity for speed, but with buildings so close together the opportunity to make a racket was hard to resist. That Ferrari howl is something else.

I had an interesting conversation with the previous owner of my 156 2.4 JTD today.. Apparently the car was sold brand new to the first owner already remapped, it was listed on the original bill of sale from back in 2003. So to say its done 172k with a remap is impressive - yes its had its fair share of clutches, flywheels and driveshafts but thats to be expected - its never had a turbo, any engine work or a replacement gearbox! Just goes to show how much of a hard case the 2.4 10v really is..

And the remap in 2003?

It was done at Red Dot

Just tell them you couldn't make the day and they should do it for £250(3 power runs,EGR delete and remap)that's what they charged me 2 weeks after the event.

Chris.
