Remap Results

Well, I spent this morning at red dot having my 2003 147 1.6 Ts remapped. I was'nt expecting miracles or massive gains..... but something is better than nothing

Spec
Ragazzon cat back exhaust
Hollowed main cat
Enclosed air filter
And run on V-Power if it makes a difference

When i arrived it went on the rollers to see what it was running at the time.
123.6 Bhp - Which i think is good for a car 9 years old and on 107,000 miles (120Bhp out the factory)

So then they went away and did their thing, 45 mins later and it was mapped and ready for the run
134.3 Bhp - Pretty happy with the results, feels like the car has a bit more low down grunt and better throttle response

I have attatched the print outs below (no scanner so took a picture)

As you can see there is a bump mid-range. They explained to me alot of 147's have this problem, its the variator on its way out and will gradually get worse and start to bog the car down, another job added to the list!

So all in all, im very happy with it, and very happy with the service at red dot. Will definately be using them again in the future.

I don't think it's the variator, rather the timing not being spot on anymore.... which could be cured after a variator replacement, if the techie uses the correct tools....

do you get a diesel like sound at startup?

There is no dodgy sounds at all (otherwise i would have taken it for a remap) the car starts and runs fine.

The bloke said it is at a very early stage of giving up and is nothing to worry about too soon, if it was worse the graph would have come out very wavey. (not disagreeing with you, just what they said)

Anyone else have ideas on what it could be?

I'd suspect something like that, even though the variator is supposed to kick in at 3k revs, or thereabout.

I've recently replaced mine and there's a definite spot where you can feel it kick in.

Out of interest, how much did the map set you back?

Yeah, im looking at replacing it August time after tax/mot/holidays to pay for, along with a few other bits whilst its timed up.

The remap cost £250, i used them as it was the closest place that gives you dyno print out before and after. Thats it as far as tuning the car goes now. I will be replacing the variator and other bits, then looking at sellin up start of next year

That is exactly why a RR run before and after is a good idea when you are having any sort of ECU tuning done, no matter if it is a "proven" file!

Red Dot did the tuning on my last car - they spent a lot of time to get the exact power delivery how I wanted it with multiple runs on the rolling road. Excellent service from them!
