CF4 Injector Coding into a CF3 ECU

Hi,

I've got new (CF4) injectors. I'm trying to code them using FES in my (CF3) ECU.

I get message "FAILED TO EXECUTE". If I use one of the 4 codes stored in the ECU in any of the 4 cylinders it works fine, descarding software/cable problems.

Not knowing a thing about IMA coding, my guess is there is at least one check digit in the 9-digit injector code. A CF4 injector probably uses a newer version of coding my ECU does not recognize.

Does anyone have a solution/workaround for this?

Thanks,

Luis

How about swapping the nozzle with needle only?

It would do pretty much the same. Most of the coding I assume is to correct nozzle differences from one injector to the other. I guess there is some calibration for the electrical part of the injector as well..

Anyway, swapping the nozzle would only take calibration to a 2nd level.

My ECU accepts any of the 4 "old" codes into any of the cylinders, so I'm playing with them trying to make correction on all 4 cylinders as low as possible, for now ...

Thanks,

Luis
