Tuning 2.0JTDM

Has anyone started tuning the newer 2.0JTDM with any good results?

Is it any better than the older 1.9, or about the same?

DPF delete or is it not so much of an issue?

Any info greatly appreciated!

if its similar to the vx astra j 2.0cdti it looks better,i know most dont like them but heres a fuel rail and turbo boost tuning box 215bhp-505nm

the 1.9 astra was 215bhp-450nm with same box so more torque at least

It's just rebored 1.9JTDm, so it's about the same I think.

Btw 1.9 is 1910ccm exactly, while 2.0 1956ccm only, so for me it's more just psycho effect (not to be left behind TDI engines).

Thanks Guys... I wonder if any of the tuners on here offer anything?

Does Gus do a remap/dpf delete for it?

I'd probably go for one if I could get some decent gains, as the fuel economy is good, cheap to tax, insure etc.

Hi Mikey,

Alfatune do indeed do a very nice remap for this 2.0jtdm. I know because a while ago i was considering a 2.0jtdm myself and spoke to Gus(Alfatuner) extensively about it. He said to me the engine is a peach once "tickled" but standard the 2.0jtdm is very(!) sluggish because of the dpf and all other tree-hugger crap. With an Alfatune remap and dpf removal it gives great power as it really opens it up. There are lots of options and you can expect 225+bhp out of this 2.0jtdm! I've also seen exhaust and decat and they're a work of art! :cool

Give him a ring and have a chat - you won't be disappointed!

Thanks for the info Clogz... much appreciated! If circa 225+bhp is possible then that's very tempting! I wonder what sort of torque is a achievable?

I'm not sure Gus would want to work on my car though unfortunately... I think he thinks I'm some sort of Mango's worshiper, and that I don't like his work, which is a shame as neither are true.

Could well be interested in going down this path if I end up with a 2.0JTDM. I've been searching for the right 2.4 for a while now, but they're either too old/high miles or too expensive. So the 2.0ltr may be the answer.

It's better to burn out than fade away!

220HP is achievable with latest 1.9JTDM either. The engine can develop more torque than the stock gearbox likes.

Yeah I had similar power out of an Astra H 1.9 CDTI a few years back, but it didn't particularly put the power down very smoothly though, and could be a bit of a handful if driven in anger.

Having said that though, the engine's have evolved over the last few years, and a good map would probably make all the difference.

Why don't you just pm or phone him instead of making 'assumptions'? I'm 100% sure he'd be happy to help you just like everyone else.
