Jtdm exhaust

Ok so just got my new 147(Jtdm 16v) and am just personalizing it a bit, now I want a nice exhaust for it but was wondering is it worth buying a full system(ie cat back) for a diesel, as I do plan to get it remapped at some point, or does it make less difference than a petrol ie if its just for looks would a back box be just as good, and also has anybody tried a company called Chipexpress? the website looks convincing and the product looks good, like the idea of being able to whip it off if needed for servicing etc, cheers

Hi, look on JS JTD web for decat stuff. Then you might be interested also in large FMIC. All these are good base for further remap.

You won't get huge gains with an exhaust but it will be more responsive with the cats etc taken out.

I have a 'straight through' (no cats etc) and it's very responsive now, lag is virtually non-existant tbh.

Here is a sound clip, not too bad for a diesel really.

Decat pipes tend to make a fair bit of difference on Diesels, and it shouldn't make your MOT any more likely to fail as its just a smoke test for Diesels.

The biggest difference you can make is either a remap or chip tuning box. The boxes from Chip Express are OK but a bit overpriced for what you get. I had a Bluespark Automotive Pro box on my 156 2.4 JTD 10V along with a decat and panel filter. It was really surprisingly quick with that setup.

You could also go for a remap, but its best to wait until after you've done your mods to get a remap as you can get it mapped specifically for the mods you have.

I'd be wary of removing cat as from next jan mot test will check for cat and fail if missing. I think removing the dpf is ok

As part of an mot, the examiner is not allowed to remove anything. On my Brera at least, just by peering in to the engine bay, it's very hard to see if there is a cat or not....
