Very Very Good Read On Engine Tuning (Sticky?)

I found this site very, very worthwhile. Scroll down just past halfway on the first page (past the Ford and Peugeot items) for links to hundreds of really good stuff written in simple terms.

Puma Racing Main Menu Page - flow development, engine building, technical and tuning articles

Mainly targeting petrol engines but nearly all the basics are also applicable to diesels.

Is it worth being a sticky?

Definitely worth a sticky. I found the Puma site a few years back and the content is top class. The section on spanner work and shifting stuck fasteners has served me very well in the years since.

Ah, good old Mr Dave Baker

He's well know around our parts (the 205 GTI community) and was quite a "colourful" character on our forum up until a few years ago, when he got banned after badly handling a dispute over a cylinder head build that didn't quite go to plan.

His website is indeed very informative and interesting. Dave himself is very keen to teach people to think for themselves and not take everything they read on face value. Indeed that's the case here. Not that I'm in any way qualified to question his engineering pedigree, but many are, and some do.

In summary, a worthy read if you would like to leanr a lot more about tuning, but don't accept it all as gospel, as there is more than one way to skin a cat (and mathematics is not the be-all and end-all).
