Jtd air filter

Had to change the air filter just after I got it about 4 weeks ago as it was running very sluggishly and had no get up and go. Usual problems by all accounts as the bolts had rusted through so ended up snapping a couple off and bending another couple out of the way. Once the lid was off I realised that getting the filter out itself was another job in itself as the location makes it such a pain. Whoever designed the engine compartment clearly never had any intention of ever looking under the bonnet, let alone working on one!
Once the filter was out, it didn't look like it had been changed in about 50,000 miles. It was absolutely stuffed with dust, insects, pollen and other detritus and it was obvious I couldn't use it again or fit a new one in with the lid damaged.
Had an old cone filter which I managed to fit in and attach to the MAF. Why such a simple job can turn into such a lot of hassle only THEY know.
Anyway, it is a temporary fix, but it works.
