Upgrading ECU

Hi Guys,

Does anyone have any info on upgrading the ECU on a 159 2.4 Jtdm?

I've heard there are some major BHP gains to be had for a relatively low cost - is it true?!

Also, how about fueld economy - I've also heard that this is improved?

Cheers in advance..

You need a remap of your ECU (no new hardware, just a computer temporarily plugged into car to alter the ECU 'software') from someone like Angel Tuning. You should see increases of about 40bhp and 60ft/lbs torque. Economy is claimed to improve by 3-5% though some very rare cases have shown more , likelyhood that you will see less economy due to 'heavy foot syndrome' from a car with more power
In the interests of fairness , there are others like Red Dot Tuning, Celtic Tuning and a few others that if local enough to you will no doubt reply directly to your thread
In answer to your next question , everyone will have different answers based on personal experience to which is best (I will say Angel) and price is about £250-£300.

Thanks TimboZero,

They sound like huge gains for the money - I think I should wait until I actually pick the car up this weekend before I start phoning for quotes!! Won't be long before I yearn the extra power though, I'd give it two weeks and I'll be booking it in!!

Thanks again for the advice

We can remap it for you giving a 40 bhp and 80nm of torque. All are remaps come with software insurance for 12 months and a 7 day money back guarantee if your not happy with it for what ever reason.

Drive the car for a good couple of weeks before remapping if I were you. Enjoy it as it is and then when you get 'bored' thats the time to play

If you're quoting metric shouldn't that be 30Kw and 80nm (same as 40bhp and 60ft/lbs) ?

Hi Happy Man!

Yes i'm well aware of Alfatune, Gus used to look after my GTV - great guy and would trust him completely to do a remap for me - I'll get in touch with him once I'm bored with 200Bhp!!

Pick the car up tomorrow morning, this has been the longest week of my life - can't wait any longer!!

Thanks for the advice - I'm checking out the NW section now - talk to you soon.

Cheers
