Impact of remapping on trip computer

I have booked my car in for a remap with Angel tuning later this month.

Before I booked I asked Nigel at Angel what could be done to overcome the map causing the trip computer to become innaccurate.

His reply was that the trip computer is innaccurate anyway as it reads in US gallons, not Imperial gallons.

Can anyone else shed any light on this? Sounds odd to me?!

US gallon is 20% less than ours. There were a few Fiats which had this sort of error. It is likely that your instant mpg figure will be up to 10% high. Unlikely to affect your trip mileage, which I always found within 2%, depending on tyre wear etc.

My remap appears to have not affected my trip computer at all...(touch wood)

proper remaps have no effect on the mileage reading because the ecu knows exactly how much fuel is injected... not so proper remaps or tuningboxes lie to the ecu, resulting in better mpg figures as reported by the trip computer.

Hmm interesting. Angel seem to have an excellent reputation on here and apparently are an Alfa specialist.

Will just bite the bullet I think and see what happens.

Thanks for your input guys.
