I'm not sure of just a chip getting you to 245-255bhp. What car are you talking about?

150bhp 2.4 to about 190-200bhp with just a map(sometimes a bit more)
175bhp 2.4 to about 210-225bhp with just a map(sometimes a bit more)

Highest I've read about is 270bhp with lots and lots of mods.

Cheers,

Mark

Which one?
There's a big difference between the 200 HP and 210 HP engine. The first uses a KKK turbo, the second a ball-bearing Garrett turbo.
The second one (210 HP) has loads and loads more torque at low rpm and more tuning potential.

I've 268bhp on 1.6bar (std boost) [email protected]%, K&N, cold air feed and water/methanol injection, you'l be right on the limit of the drive train though

Re: chip+exhaust+big fmic + 2.4jtd anyone ?

well all that depends how you drive..

I believe, that in my hands 300hp brera is ok.
if it can handle 270hp, it can handle 300..
its only 10% more.. and its not the power, its the torque..
torque can be modified pretty good with program.

Re: chip+exhaust+big fmic + 2.4jtd anyone ?

268hp, hmm so it could easily be +280hp with good fmic and new exhaust.

btw : was that 200hp or 210hp model ?

One thing to consider is the DPF ... if you're doing big modifications to gain power you might find it will regen more often than you'd like ...

Re: chip+exhaust+big fmic + 2.4jtd anyone ?

Nope all 159's Breras (diesel anyway) have DPFs ... If you remove them then the ECU will raise a fault, to get round this you'll need to get the ECU mapped to remove this check, there are a couple of tuners in this country that can do it (AHM and Alfa Tune) ... not sure about your country though ...

Re: chip+exhaust+big fmic + 2.4jtd anyone ?

If you're looking for a real rocket ship, then the 156 2.4 20v will be a better bet, they are lighter than 159's/Brera's and can be mapped to 250bhp with no modifications ... although the drive train is a little week ...

Re: chip+exhaust+big fmic + 2.4jtd anyone ?

we have here also some tuners, that can take the dpf of, and
make now faults..
does the "older" 156 20v car share the same drivetrain as 147 and gt ?
I mean, there already is almost 270hp car on this forum, without any
problems

and of course I would take saloon, not SW..

Re: chip+exhaust+big fmic + 2.4jtd anyone ?

you can't get a 2.4 JTD in either the 147 nor GT, the only way to get 270bhp from either of these cars surely would be to start with the 3.2V6 petrol ... but in answer to your question the 156 2.4 JTD 20v uses a GM gearbox which the 147 and GTs don't use ...

oh yes and it has to be the saloon

Re: chip+exhaust+big fmic + 2.4jtd anyone ?

I reply from work ( didnt remember my password, so new name )

(Jarkko really.. )

I mean, that there already is 1.9jtd 16v = almost 270hp.
I now there isnt 2.4 147 or gt...

so it seems, that 156 2.4jtd 20v or then
gt 1.9 jtd 16v or 147 ...

200kw sounds good enough

Don't forget, it's not the bhp figures that are really important it's the torque.

I'd guess that the driveshafts, clutch and gearbox would need upgrading too in the not too distant future after those kind of mods & torque.

Cheers,

Mark

Re: chip+exhaust+big fmic + 2.4jtd anyone ?

clutch = of course

gearbox = well with good tuning by chip, I dont think so

driveshaft = depends on the user.
( dont put the bedal all the way down, when cornering )

Not that I don't believe you (which I don't ) ... but where is this magical 270bhp 1.9 car ???? you'd have to do some serious work to get up to those figures ...

sorry, remembering wrong ..

it first was 248hp, then after some mods he said that

+260hp car..

but with some nice cold weather dyno tuning here in Finland, should be +270hp

Re: chip+exhaust+big fmic + 2.4jtd anyone ?

awesome ... although as I suspected he's uprated the turbo put in an FMIC and done lots of other work to the car (you're earlier post implied that he'd got 270bhp from a remap alone ...)
