Afa GT 1.9 jtd Upgrade Path

I have an 05 Gt 1.9jtd that is std and runs on 18" alloys. I am interested in improving it over time (next 1 to 3 years, I will probably keep it about 5 to 6 years) as funds allow and parts wear out so I am looking for recommendations on an updgrade path.

The starting place though I guess is what do I use it for, so here is some background. I drive about 6K to 8K miles a year mostly in town or motorway. A/B road trips are best but don't fit much in with my lifestyle / time available just now. I find the standard ride a bit crashy as noted in other GT posts. I find the power levels good but not necessarily that flexible.

I drive the car most of the time but my wife does use it occasionally and she is not a car person so it needs to remain easy for her to drive .

The car is used for personal and work use so needs to remain reliable.

Once the car gets older, say in 2 or 3 years time I might do some small fun track nights - maybe one or two a year - nothing serious though just a bit of fun.

Any suggestions and feedback on what you guys have done would be great

Cheers

If you start....stopping is very, very hard.

It is like drugs....

But if you are serious about it, we can give you a "short" list that can keep you busy for the next couple of years.

A short list would be a good start - thanks. I should also have said mileage is currently 32K.

From reading this site I can see people have difficulty stopping once they get going

Re: Afa GT 1.9 jtd Upgrade Path

1.Easiest and most common first upgrade is a remap...it will transform you car straight away

Then....you should decide which road you are willing to take first

a)more power....meaning...intercoolers, air filters, de-cats....

b)better road holding....shock absr. springs, powerflex bushes, anti-roll bars...

c) exterior look...wheels, bumpers, spoilers, windows, paint.

d) brakes...discs, brake pads, brake fluid..xenon lights if you don't have them...they can also go here as safety system.

e) interior....sound system, sat nav, dvd, leather dash..more gauges...you can get even car PC

I am happy with the interior and exterior. so remap would be priority then consider next step from there.

About the powerflex, use the search function of the forum...as this is quite a long topic.
