Re: 155 Q4-Build

a lowering is planned, but since I bought this one in a bunch of boxes disassembled and all forgotten about, I put the money on putting it together (done) and making it start (tried last monday, but wouldnt because of 2 broken ignition leads) first off, then MOT, then upgrades on chassies and brakes...

Im sooo longing to drive her...

Re: 155 Q4-Build

i thought lowering and upgraded brakes would be on the agenda.

i think 155 owners favour FK coilovers, so maybe research who can sell those. Gazella are stockists, but i've read about their patchy service; sometimes good, sometimes bad ('unanticipated' delays).

though i don't know enough about the Q4 to know if there are specific model coilovers available, or whether the parts are shared with the V6 or 4cyl cars. AlfaJack could tell you.

Re: 155 Q4-Build

I believe coilovers are available for the Q4 although lots of places only list 4cyl or 6cyl. It is more likely to be the 6cyl that would work best due to the weight of the Q4.

I cant find them at the moment but I have seen specific listings for the Q4 somewhere...will look again soon.

Re: 155 Q4-Build

the Intrax RS set is the only one available that I have came across (quite expensive though, 950 Euro ex VAT), except the D2s (but those S.U.C.K) in my opinion.. have had them on another car, not satisfied at all...

Re: 155 Q4-Build

950 Euro sounds pretty fair, when compared with coilovers for other alfas (eg: KWv2 for a 156). though i figure the rear suspension on the Q4 is similar to the FWD, and doesn't take a proper 'coilover' as such.

and i've not idea how well suited to the street the Intrax are; biased towards street vs track (comfort vs stiffness).

I got my car running last week, for start it didnt want to start nor run well when cold, but perfect idle and run when hot..

After sorting out leaks and some other issues I got it to start and run well when tonight (hold on now everybody), had in my mind somewhere heard that someone had trouble starting when they had switched 2 of the contacts.. I switched 2 of the contacts, after studying them a bit closer I noticed that one of them looked twisted, the 2 contacts where those between the constant idle speed and/water temp, man I felt stupid..

now running smoothly and waiting for a new wheelhub to safely secure the righthand front wheel for the first test drive, should arrive next week (from italy)

regards

that has to be the nicest engine I've seen in some time, I see you made sure you do it all RIGHT the 1st time around with forged bits and ARP bolts and balanced internals...good going!

Yes, good eye there, Scara73 manifold with the High spool up, works really well

I have bought another Q4 so now proud owner of 2..
The new one actually had a set of coilovers mounted, so thinking of switching between the cars, have also made som new stuff to the car, a decal along the side, white with cut out on the reardoor that says "Alfa Romeo" and painted the wheels white, added the Silverstone frontsplitter, I have the wing as well but not yet mounted (bought an extra boot lid though to be able to swithc back)

heres some pics for you:

The stripes and wheels in white

The both beside one another

New Bigger breakes

Hey there Q4-Dave,

This is my spare engine....

I'm thinking of rebuilding it myself for a really special project i have at heart right now...

Tell me how much CFM are you getting from the cylinder head per bank.. I've heard of about 270 - 275 CFM out of a 4G63 from my engine building buddies, but never had stats for an Integrale/Q4 engine...

If you know of any website with in depth stats on these engines please post the link...

Thanks..

They are needed :P accelerates like a beast, and will get even better with a remap..

Next up is to build a new exhaust with race catalyst and thinking of one silencer, have none now and 3" with original catalytic converter

Will switch the coilovers between the cars and mount my new wheels as soon as I have bought new tyres...

The new wheels Enkei RS7 19"x7", will probably be painted white...

Will try to get it to Gatebil, but only if I am satisfied with how it turns out, the rims painted and the lowering, so a maybe with this car, and most certainly for myself..

About the wheels, do they fit or not, according to my calculations they should fit, very tight fit but yet so, the rims fit over my new brakes after I made a 22mm spacer the clearance look good to the struttower and the coilovers, should clear the wheelarches..

Will just have to wait and see, the tyres are on order but have not received them and the rims are going to be painted before assembly..
hold your thumbs for me /as we say in sweden :P

regards
David
