Ferodo brake upgrade

My discs and pads are due for renewal. I was looking to put alfa discs partnered with Ferodo ds performance pads. They are a little pricey, but seem to be very good. I was wondering whether or not there would be much benefit gained fitting them to the back? I thought I may put alfa pads at the rear to keep costs down. Is this a bad idea - will they be noticeably inferior in comparison to rear Ferodos?

Re: Ferodo brake upgrade

FWD cars do very little braking at the rear, so with DS-Performance on the front, std rear pads will be fine.

The ideal for FWD is a higher friction pad on the front to keep the balance correct.

DS2500 & DS-Performance do have very good wear rates though, my rear DS-Performance pads are currently 4-years old and still no where near replacement.

Re: Ferodo brake upgrade

Thanks for the prompt reply guys. My logic was that the rears don't do that much, but nice to have it confirmed.

Re: Ferodo brake upgrade

Where's the best place to get the alfa discs? Shop4parts has a promotion - £25 a corner. This sounds reasonable. Who manufactures the alfa discs, would it be better to go direct?

Re: Ferodo brake upgrade

I run DS Perf up front (with slotted rotors) with stock Lucas pads at the rear. Braking is excellent, good feel, good power, no fade. Get a fluid bleed & replace it with some good stuff too (I use Penrite Sin)
