159 2.4 JTDM Sportwagon Remap

Hi Guys,

Has anyone remapped a 210bhp 159 Sportwagon at Red Dot , and was it all good....

Power good?

Any more smoke?

Fuel ok?

Thanks in advance,

Best,

James.

I'm thinking about it so feedback would be useful for me too (my car's a 200bhp model).

Impatient as I am, I'm driving up to London on Thursday to have the remap done, They seemed very friendly and together.

£224 inc VAT .... Seems reasonable, Let's see if I can hold on to my license on the way home!

Best,

James.

Re: 159 2.4 JTDM Sportwagon Remap

Hi James,

Mine is the 200 not the 210 but my experience of Red Dot and their remap is completely positive. Power is good. There is no smoke (visible) but remember the DPF would prevent it escaping. MPG is about the same although the on-board computer 'thinks' it is better.

I had a lot of DPF related problems for a while (check out DPF threads elsewhere for more on this) and I had the remap removed and the ECU put back to standard while I got them resolved. Once I was happy that they were cured Red Dot put the remap back in (at no charge). 7000 miles later I've had no further problems, so I'm confident that whatever problems I had were nothing to do with the remap.

Recommend Red Dot heartily and they're cheap.

Cheers,

Re: 159 2.4 JTDM Sportwagon Remap

no experience with the 210,

but I can recommend red dot, they won't overfuel the thing and will do a good job, what is more, if you want more tweaking after more modding, they will look after you.

Great guys, doubt you'll find much better. price is excellent, but don't say too much about the cost as some people like to pay/charge more and get upset over lower £££'s remaps!!!

Don't know about the 'discount' bit, Fraser, but 2 x 159 S/Ws in the same place at the same time would certainly be 'bulk'.

Re: 159 2.4 JTDM Sportwagon Remap

Hi Guys,

OK, Just drove the 159 Sportwagon 2.4JTDM ( 210) the 70 miles or so back home after the remap.

Fantastic difference, Augusto at Red Dot was charming and very helpful, setup the remap as per my requests.

My car tested 197.3 BHP pre-remap ( apparently that's cos its only done 700 miles) Torque was 259.8 ft-lb's

Post remap the printout shows 253.1 BHP and a torque figure of 366.6 ft-lb's!

You could say I'm pleased!

Drive's great... if a little scary in 3rd and 4th....

Cheers,

James

Just checked Angel's website - £225 at their premises in Troon.

Very tempted.

Update - the £225 is for the older 156 diesels. They normally charge £350 for a 159 Mjet but are currently tuning them for £295.

Re: 159 2.4 JTDM Sportwagon Remap

Just back. Smooth as silk and powers cleanly through the gears. I swear it sounds better too. Much better than the tuning box with no flat spots.

BUT - I still get the surging if I floor it in sixth gear from 50/60mph. Same as I got with the tuning box. WTF is all that about?

I'll speak to Paul at Angel about it on Monday - I'm beginning to think it's a hardware issue (EGR).
