Exhausts and Suspension

After 25 years of driving I have just bought my first Alfa this weekend, it's a 147 1.9JTDM 16V Q2 on an 07 plate, a very nice looking car. It could however do with a couple of improvements. Looking at the rear of the car, it looks like the rear bumper on the right hand side has a removable section to allow for a dual exit exhaust, is this what that is for, and if so, what is available from where and how much etc....
The other improvement is to lower the ride height, can I get away with just fitting lowering springs, or does this really impact the handling or do you need to fit coilovers, bearing in mind I don't drive it like it's stolen and won't be going on the track.

Looking for some good advice from those in the know,

Cheers,

Mike

Re: Exhausts and Suspension

Hi, I too have a 147 1.9jtdm 16v sport q2.
It has been lowered on eibach springs, which greatly improves the handling and also looks of the car. Depending on your budget the eibachs are a perfect spring to go with koni fsd shocks. The springs are around £120ish and the koni's are around £500ish plus fitting of course.
The cap on the right of the bumper is an exit point for an exhaust, with slight modifications to allow a clean fit. The towing eye is behind the little cap to the left of the main cap where the right hand exhaust would exit from. Check out different exhaust styles on gazzella or alfisti.net
I am currently deciding on what exhaust to purchase for my car!!
