Facelifting a 156.

so....providing my current new-found selespeed fault can be fixed cheap-ish, i will be wanting to refresh the exterior of the car.

bearing in mind ive had a quote of £2350, a respray is going to be out.

i intend on getting an NSR door and rear bumper, close to mint as possible, but the front bumper, bonnet, and both wings are rather tatty paint-wise.

its going to cost me a bit to get the front end panels replaced with good/mint ones, so i was wondering about replacing them with facelift ones while im there.

whats needed?

wings
bonnet
bumper
lights
grille.

is that it or do any of the mounts need changing?

does anyone know where a facelifted 156 might be found for breaking?

Re: Facelifting a 156.

Its been discussed and found to be horribly expensive. As far as I remember you need what you have listed. Dont think anybody has figured its worth it. A nice subtle kit front bumper might be the way to go.

Re: Facelifting a 156.

a respray would be horribly expensive too. a kit front bumper would cost to spray, plus i would still have tatty bonnet/wings etc.

Re: Facelifting a 156.

True. The ideal thing would be to find a rear ended late 2004 in the same colour in a scrapyard desperate for business! Thats not asking a lot is it....

Re: Facelifting a 156.

difficult, i know, but then so is finding mint parts for the pre-facelift car that would be cheap enough to make me forget about trying the facelift

I often thought about it myself but its just too expensive for me at the moment. Would look cool.

Re: Facelifting a 156.

You also need the front panel i.e the metal work under all the stuff you have already said as that is different to. Its only as expensive as buying the bits, no fitment is required, it should all bolt straight on.

Re: Facelifting a 156.

not bad at all, the grille size(larger than standard) is what put me off that.

Re: Facelifting a 156.

Nice idea Iain

I'm not sure if the bonnet is different though, only the grille - that is only bolted to the bonnet.

Re: Facelifting a 156.

the bonnet is different, the front line is different, and where the grille sits is almost flat compared to the contoured bit on the pre-facelift one.

Re: Facelifting a 156.

It's all the same as pre facelift but with more of a GT front look to it. Saves replacing more than one body panel.

Re: Facelifting a 156.

where the grille attaches to the bonnet on the pre-facelift cars- the bonnet edge on the pre-facelift is contoured, the facelift is almost straight.

Re: Facelifting a 156.

Cant remember if he did. Once I get this all sorted I'll post a few pics of it on the forums. Although it is kinda expensive, i like the look of it and will give close to the facelift look, a bit more aggressive perhaps.
