The 159 17" wheels are normally 225, not 255

Re: Widest wheels i can get!!!!!

225 is as wide as you can go without using spacers or wheels with a different offset. Then you would start to ruin the handling. I had 225/50/17's on a 156 once. Any bigger either way and they would have rubbed.

Re: Widest wheels i can get!!!!!

225/40/18's go on without any probs. You could possibly squeeze 235/35/18's but you might get some rubbing on full-lock or when travelling at speed over bumps.

Have a search on the web for Carlos Fandango wheels - they are definitely the widest that will fit.

+1 also a decent suspension setup (uprated shocks/dampers/ARB etc), will mean that all 4 tyres are working together ... (which you need on the heavy V6)

surely 8J (or wider) rims and 255's would cost loads more than 600???

225's on 17's are good and mate well with a decent suspension and a Q2.

decent tyres make a huge difference.

A V6 2.5 is not that torquey that it should be spinning with ease through 1st and 2nd unless the tyres are of the ditch-finder variety.

Re: Widest wheels i can get!!!!!

where and how much is the Q2 system and where can i get it just thought if i get the air flow and re-mapp then with the autodelta excaust it would go abit quicker and that i might be able to get some 2nd hand alloys???

Re: Widest wheels i can get!!!!!

autolusso supply and fit the Q2, AHM may just supply
A Red Dot remap and GSR intake will give the best power increase, 17's are great with 225's, I have 3 sets for my 156 with a variety of tyres (road legal semi-slicks and stds etc).

The exhaust needs carefull planning, search some of CPH posts as he know people in this arena.

Re: Widest wheels i can get!!!!!

Are you more bothered about going faster in a straight line or going faster all the time? If its the latter, you need to sort the suspension and get a Q2 diff. Much better investment than a remap and wider tyres..

Re: Widest wheels i can get!!!!!

I have the autodelta exhaust now but its not really sounding to good it sounds like its hunting but the alfashop (norwich) said that it has sounded like that since the time it was on.
So i was looking at getting the power to try and get the car sounding good again will the air filter and ecu make it happen the extra power will be nice aswell

Re: Widest wheels i can get!!!!!

If its sound you want just remove a box. weld in a new bit of pipe. £50 job at most. save you a fortune. Im a bit confused as to what you want now though? Faster acceleration? round the bends? top speed? or just to sound better? Also what do yu use the car for? just driving to work? track days?

Re: Widest wheels i can get!!!!!

The V6 should sound great with practically any exhaust system so something is seriously wrong.

I'd sort the suspension and brakes before worrying about doing anything else, you can spend a lot of money on the engine for only 10% increase in power that you will hardly notice.

A sports cat is a good option if you have quiet exhaust setup

Re: Widest wheels i can get!!!!!

it might just sound like sh*t coz i had a new cat on it from ebay and it looks different to the old one this might be the problem but it really sound tinny and bad so i thought the extra mods like air filter and ecu with the autodelta exhaust i thought it might sound better.
The filter and ecu is only 600 at autodelta which is quite good i thought and extra power allways welcome
