Re: Brake Upgrade

I'd seen that on there.
Price does look good.
Remember there will be VAT to add to that price though.

Re: Brake Upgrade

service eginee, brembo's for alfas seem highly priced second hand, whereas porsche brake calipers can be had for about 150quid a pair, cn you adapt your drawing (bracket) to match other calipers?

Re: Brake Upgrade

To fit 305x28mm GTA discs firstly you'd need Porsche calipers which are designed for 28mm discs. This would be Boxster S and 996/997 front calipers (maybe others) The rear calipers are popular with VW guys as they are 24/25mm discs.

Then you'd need to look at the piston sizes. For example the front 996 monoblock calipers are:-
Original Caliper numbers are : 996 351 425/426.
Piston diameters: 2×36 mm + 2×40 mm
Original disc size: 320×28 mm

My Ferrari 360 calipers have 2x34mm + 2 x 38mm pistons and work very well with the standard 156 brake setup

But this is the starting point, you'd then need adapter brackets, bolts and hoses......and the necessary wheel clearance for big calipers and to decide if all this work and cost is worth the effort

156 2.5 V6 24v, Cosmos Blue Metallic, Tan Leather, 17” GTA's, 225/45 Michelin PS2's, Full Zender body kit, GTA Headlights, Eibach springs, Koni FSD's, Eibach Anti-roll bars, Ferrari 360 Brembo calipers, DS2500 pads, Squadra ECU, 45mm Intake Runners, Carbon Intake, Dan & Wizard exhaust

156 2.5 V6 Qsystem, Red + Red Leather, Bilstein dampers, DS2500 pads...soon Brembo calipers, 17" GTV Teles

Re: Brake Upgrade

yes the porsche calipers use a 50mm offset where the Brembo Gran Turismo calipers use 53mm

The Ferrari 360 uses 48mm.... so the answer is yes.

Like Pascs said you need Porsche calipers that can accept a 28mm disc & these then to be expensive.

In the past I've used Porsche Boxster with the 284 x 22 discs but found them to be under powered.

the simple answer is YES once you know the offset then its simple maths. the drawing assumes 53mm offset

Re: Brake Upgrade

I need to know the offset of you claipers?

I assume they are RADIAL mounted & not lug mounted GTA claipers.

Offset is measured from the centre of the caliper [ along wher eit splits ] to the centre of the 2 mounting holes.

Also what distance apart are the mounting holes?

Picture would be handy.

When i supplied them to Pascs he got:

* 2 brackets
* 4 75mm caliper mounting bolts + washers
* 4 50mm strut mounting bolts + washers

€120

for postage alone it'll cost €30.

If oyu want to PM him and get his option feel free to do so.

Re: Brake Upgrade

I believe they are the same as the ones pascs needed but I will check.. definitely keep.. (what are they manufactured from?)

I take it they are perfect for the 305 and 330 calipers?

Re: Brake Upgrade

Ok, so if I buy these from you, I would be able to fit the 305mm calipers and disc directly.. I wouldn't need to change hubs or anything else like that...

If so.. tell me where I need to send the money

Do you have any pics from when fitted?

Re: Brake Upgrade

these brackets fit straight onto the TS strut

* are designed for use with 305mm discs

* to be used with calipers with 130mm mounting points + offset of 53mm

You need to confirm that they have 53mm offset, if less that can be taken into account.

4 pots are fatter than ordinary claipers so they require more clearance between the disc & rim.

I have 16" selespeed alloys fitted with 15mm spacer, so you need to take that into consideration too.
