is chipping really worth it?

is it worth my while getting my 1.9 JTD chipped? no other engine work done yet.. might get an air filter and de-cat the exhaust if its worth it..

Is there much work fitting a single din head unit?
Does the back take 6x9's?

Don't get it chipped, get it remapped. No point chipping a car that has a remappable ECU in my opinion..

Straight through exhaust might help a bit, but the intake is "worth more" I reckon. Front mounted intercooler will help too.

is your GT the facelifted one?

..if it is you can get around 200hp by a remap.

Hey i had my 1.9 JTDm chipped...and im very happy with it!! i think its good compromise between performance and economy, the car goes very nicely.. my car has about 181hp now..and its completely undetectable if the car is sent in for service..

jus my view..

A remap is definitely worth it ... have a search on the forums for happy customer stories, recommended companies to do it and people's experiences with a remap

Re: is chipping really worth it?

If the car is near standard or predictable without heavy internal engine work I would go for it, if the tuner is reputable.

However with anything more than induction/exhaust every mapper I have been to has struggled to map my car correctly for over 2 years. It had a change from 8 valve to 16 valve engine and no one has been able to map it properly yet - when it gets really heavy a custom ECU is the way forward.

On a standard car I would say why not - if nothing else fuel economy normally improves.
