What i need to do for an uprgrade of brakes?!

I´ve an GTV 2.0 V6 turbo, with regular brakes.
I would like to fit the 305mm brakes from GTV 3.0/coupé 20VT.
What i realy need?
Discs
Pads
Calipers
Hubs

anything else?!

The hubs from an Fiat coupe 20VT it´s similar to the GTV 3.0?!

and about 330mm kit?! that fit on standard hubs?!

that's it, so for big brake on 330mm you are need the special original caliber's and pads, discs.

Re: What i need to do for an uprgrade of brakes?!

larger wheels or spacers to allow the 4 pot to clear the rim

a 'radial' backet to convet from strut mounted to radial mounted.... perhaps?

Hi
i did use this, Z330 Corse kit,(Alfastumper)
on the GTV 2.0 V6 turbo that i have, it's a bolt on fit to standard hubs, and the braking power is like night and day compared to regular brakes.

Thats a nice looking kit and should be quite light weight too

Expensive though

in € it´s like 1500€, right?!!!

NOTE: The hubs from fiat coupé 20VT fit directly in GTV?! Or need any change?! the question is, if i bought calipers and discs from an GTA and hubs from a fiat coupé 20VT (it´s more easy to find), the kit fit´s direct into GTV V6 turbo?!

Expensive yes, but when i did a summ up off the cost going brembo
route, to make it fit (+the hazzel) it ended up more expensive, and
the tar-ox or stop-it route even more expensive (so what to do?
GTV needs better brakes!).

Re: What i need to do for an uprgrade of brakes?!

Do the GTV 2.0TS, 2.0V6 and 3.0V6 all use different uprights (the part the caliper mounts to)?

I assume that the 2.0V6 uses the same brake caliper as the 2.0TS. The Coupe uprights look the same as GTV but the part numbers are different. I know on the Alfa 156 changing to GTA uprights means extra work to steering rack and wheel bearings.

A lot depends how much you want to spend and what you want to achieve.

I like the lighter weight of the 305mm discs, the standard 330mm discs are supposed to be very heavy.

For 305mm discs you have option of buying a kit like the Brembo GT kit (800-1000€) which will fit direct to 2.0 GTV, making your own kit with radial mount calipers (like I have done) or fitting 3.0 GTV uprights and using GTV/GTA/Coupe Brembo calipers.

330mm calipers are radial mount so with the correct adapter bracket will fit any GTV.

156 2.5 V6 24v, Cosmos Blue Metallic, Tan Leather, 17” GTA's, 225/45 Michelin PS2's, Full Zender body kit, GTA Headlights, Eibach springs, Koni FSD's, Eibach Anti-roll bars, Ferrari 360 Brembo calipers, DS2500 pads, Squadra ECU, 45mm Intake Runners, Carbon Intake, Dan & Wizard exhaust

156 2.5 V6 Qsystem, Red + Red Leather, Bilstein dampers, DS2500 pads...soon Brembo calipers, 17" GTV Teles

Re: What i need to do for an uprgrade of brakes?!

I guess you are really facing the same problems as many 156 owners who want to fit the bigger GTA calipers and discs.

I think the hardest part if you decided to produce your own kit is getting the right calipers. We've used Ferrari 360 Front calipers which are radial mount, designed for 28mm discs, use exact same shape and design pads as 3.0 GTV but 2mm thinner and correct size pistons. These calipers are practically the same as the Brembo caliper in the Brembo GT kits but have slightly bigger pistons.

The GTA/GTV Brembo calipers have bigger pistons again - I'm not sure how this would effect a 2.0 GTV brake setup

Then you need adapter bracket, discs, pads and hoses

There are diffrent hub's on TS, 2.0 V6 and 3.0 V6, TS and 2.0 V6
have the same bolt pattren to the brake calipers but diffrent drive
shafts, 2.0 v6 and 3.0 v6 use's the same drive shafts but have
diffrent bolt pattren to the brake calipers.

And yes, as Pascs is pointing to, lighter weight have a big impact to handling the differense
between the old hevy weight 284mm and the new light weight setup is major.

look very nice

Those spokes are really thin on the Ultraleggera, must make for a very light weight combination

Re: What i need to do for an uprgrade of brakes?!

When you add up all the parts you need, it's probably not too far off of gettings something like these..... 4 Pot Conversions

I've not got them myself, but it's something I'm considering for the future for my car using their 325mm kit.

Cheers,

Mark

Re: What i need to do for an uprgrade of brakes?!

£695 seems a pretty good price but I would want to know a bit more about the calipers first.....considering their Brembo kit is £1050 for similar setup.

Re: What i need to do for an uprgrade of brakes?!

The uprights are the things the hubs sit in, hub carriers I suppose. The location of the two holes that the Brembo's attach to are in a different place to that on other models. So you need to change the GTA hub carriers, use your existing hubs(pressed into the carriers) then the Brembo's fit or make up an adaptor bracket I suppose.

That's my understanding anyway.

Mark

I hope this was only a trial fit, because that caliper is upside down...!

Re: What i need to do for an uprgrade of brakes?!

Those brackets look great, didn't think there would be enough space to use a conversion bracket when fitting the 20VT/GTA305 calipers..

Do you have the CAD drawings available for those brackets by any chance?
