Upgrade suggestions

Hi, i'm after suggestions or recommendations as to what i should upgrade on my 2001 156.

I have decided on on some of the visual stuff, alloys, black side repeaters and tan leather interior.

i'm now after upgrades that will improve the driving side, nothing to extreme or pricey, it is a 1.8 and i'm not necessarily after more power just to improve or enhance the driving experience (sorry about the tossy line!)

Decided to replace the sagging undertray with an alloy one which is the only daily annoyance i have at the moment.

Happy new year!!

Re: Upgrade suggestions

a lot of the stuff to improve the drive of the 156 is quite expensive.

the cheapest is probably a front upper strut brace @£40, and front lower strut brace @£35. these will have a noticable effect on the way your car drives.

what engine do you have?

Re: Upgrade suggestions

A stiffer rear anti-roll bar too, to make it a bit more lively

Re: Upgrade suggestions

roll bars are a good upgrade, but not the cheapest of options..how much is the rear one on its own?

Re: Upgrade suggestions

twinspark benefits well from the removal of the resonator in the airbox, and a lightened crank pulley (£70ish for the pulley).

replacing the standard suspension items such as bushes and wishbones etc can improve the ride if these parts are worn, but even these standard replacements can be costly, as there is a bit of labour involved to change them.

Re: Upgrade suggestions

Whiteline adjustable rear ARB is £136, heavy duty adjustable droplinks are £80 for the set, not sure if those are strictly necessary.. The pulley I would go for at £70 though...
