How good are EBC Brake Discs?

I'll need some new front discs shortly (& pads) & I just wondered what EBC replacement or turbo groove discs were like, planning to use DS performance pads (front only)

Nothing special. Just use standard Brembo discs.

Re: How good are EBC Brake Discs?

I used them once and they were very noisy and don't work properly until the coloured coating has worn off.

As above, nothing special.

I won't be using them again.

Re: How good are EBC Brake Discs?

i am using their discs up front with greenstuff pads; discs are fine but will be replacing pads in the near future with Ferodos. Pads ok for generel day to day stuff but not ok for repeated challenging stuff, heat makes pads fairly useless.

Re: How good are EBC Brake Discs?

I have used EBC 'Green-Stuff' front pads in my cars 4-pot Brembos.

I have a set of EBC 'Green-Stuff' rear pads to fit when the current rear pads wear out.

However i did find that BEFORE i got my 305mm GTA discs grooved the EBC pads did glaze over quite abit...... you'd need grooves to make sure they stayed de-glazed.

FYI: there are 5 different specs of pads

black?, blue, green, red, yellow .... standard <---> fast road use <---> competition

Re: How good are EBC Brake Discs?

I've got Turbo Groove EBC disks with Ferodo DS2500 pads. The pads are chewing up the disks after 6 months creating a lip!!

I'm not sure what the best disk are to go with using Ferodo DS2500 pads.

Any thoughts as it'll help out Vindaloo in deciding too I'd guess?!

Cheers,

Mark

I think that shows you how bad the EDC discs are.
DS2500 pads are very gentle on the discs.

Re: How good are EBC Brake Discs?

I've recently fitted 'cheap' discs with DS2500's to the front, has improved braking, not too bothered about the longevity of the discs at the price they were

the order is:
black
green
red
yellow (two different compounds)
blue

But I wouldn't use any of them.

The main problem I have with EBCs is that they seem to vary hugely; sometimes they're OK, sometimes they're made out of soft cheese
