New Alfa 147 Owner NEEDS HELP AND ADVICE !

Hello Everyone

My 1st post then after month of reading and learning ...
After now almost 1 Year with my new Alfa 147 1.6 T-spark I have to say

Yes I AM addicted :O)
Really love my Alfa
Now ....I am thinking about tuning it a bit but not spend too much

I read a lot about here in the forum so now that i finally joined I just post and ask ?

Whats the easiest and in general most usefull mod to start with ?
I think maybe the airfilter?
Please keep in mind Iam really not that good when it comes to car mechanics and after opening the car hood I am almost lost already ...

Thanks for all the help and tips in advance !

Re: New Alfa 147 Owner NEEDS HELP AND ADVICE !

On my 147 I have chipped it, put a freeflow exhaust system on, a performance cone air filter and will soon be replacing the standard exhaust manifold with a performance branch system, and hopefully removing the catalytic converters again.

A performance air filter is not going to do much for the performance of the car, will just add a slightly deeper engine noise, same with the freeflow exhaust. You probably do get a few more Bhp out of it but you dont really notice it. Once you have chipped it, or remapped the standard ECU you can get a noticable power increase. When I had my car put on a dyno in july this year it had an extra 20bhp or so, however at the time it had the performance branch manifold on and no catalytic converters.

As for the cost, I live in South Africa where the freeflow cost me the equivelent of roughly 170 ero's, the chip about 250, similar price for the branches and catalytic converter removal. Hope this helps you out a little.
