159 - coilovers+roll bar+spacers?

Has anyone fitted Bosch Pro Street S coilovers + anti roll bar + spacers altogether? I'm tempted....

After experiencing Bosch parts on my previous Alfa I would say AVOID. Go for Koni or Eibach.

Re: 159 - coilovers+roll bar+spacers?

I had FK coilovers, I'm slowly removing them and fitting Eibach springs and Koni FSD dampers in their place. Got the front done now, just need the rear to do. I thought the coilovers were far too hard but they were cheap ones with only height adjustability. Well, they did have height adjustability when new but they seized solid, I needed a vice, 3 foot bar and a blow torch to free them off

I would say defo uprate the anti roll bars, its something I wish I could afford to do. As for coilovers, I would say think about lowering springs and a brilliant set of shocks like FSDs, to keep the ride supple but sporty. Spacers will make it look cool and mean and should make it corner better. No idea what it'll do to geometry and tyre wear though.

Pud, i thought getting complete coilovers is better than getting springs and dampers separately?
Also for the roll bar, its cheaper than coilovers, around £250 for Eibach one, so its not that expensive.

The cost of the eibach ARB's might only be £250, but then you'll be paying a garage not far off of the same again just to fit them. Subframe needs to be lower which is a bit of a nightmare, 3-4hours or so.

I'm assuming the 159 is similar to the 156 anyway.

Cheers,

Mark

Mark, where did you fit yours? Any garages you could recommend? I tried contacting Steven Duncan in AlfaNet in Fishponds Bristol but to no avail.

Re: 159 - coilovers+roll bar+spacers?

I managed to get hold of Mr Duncan. He said he has done quite a few 156 before but never did 159. He doesnt expect it to be very much different though. He thinks its gonna take pretty much the whole day to put everything in, which will be around £300+VAT. He mentioned the Eibachs anti rolls were really good, same for the coilovers. He is not to keen on KONI. The ball is now on my side...

All depends on budget I suppose, and how hard you want the car to be set-up. I've no doubt that Koni FSDs and Eibach Pro springs are more 'fast road' inclined, whereas coilovers are probably more track oriented. Obviously you can use them on road but they don't make any compromise for ride quality. I would have thought ride quality is the one thing you'd want to maintain, if you lose ride quality in a 159 you may as well be in a 156 again and benefit from the lightness..

Is that £300 + VAT to fit the suspension & ARB or just one?! If it's for all of it, very good price!!

Cheers,

Mark

Re: 159 - coilovers+roll bar+spacers?

Blimey. Other places quote around £250 to just fit 4 shocks & springs. Fitting a new ARB is a good 3 hours labour, so that's a bargain. He has a really good reputation on here too. I'll be going there when I get my new ARB's as I work in Bristol.

Cheers,

Mark
