Cat removal 147

Hi guys.

Posted a link a while ago about problems I had when I completely removed the cats on my 147, we put branches on and removed the cats at the same time. Ever since I had to put them back on I have missed the extra power I had when they were gone.

The other day I looked under my car and noticed that the final Lambda sensor had no cat foolers on it, ie the place that did the work for me f*cked it all up and never fooled the lambda sensors properly.

I went and spoke to another exhaust place and they agree that the previous job was not done properly and say they can put branches on for me and successfully remove the cats. Before I go ahead I just want to find out if people out there have had their all their cats removed properly, so I know it can be done and dont run into more problems.

Re: Cat removal 147

how do they fool the lambdas?

I wouldn't bother, and fool the ecu into thinking the lambdas and cats are there....

Not really sure, just going with what the exhaust place said . They say that they will put in a cat fooler/mini cat just infront on the final Lambda sensor and thus the ECU will think everything is alright.

At least this time I am going to a place that definately knows what they doing, has done it before and have asked around and it can be done..... fingers crossed.

hya i easily remove all 3 cats on my 147 by fitting 155 primary and downpipe and welding together the fixing rings /clamps with a small ring of steel tube

well the car is back, all the cats are off, and so far it seems like it has worked this time... engine is much more responsive without the cats

How is the idle?! Sometimes on N/A cars after cat removal the idle can go a bit wonky.

Cheers,

Mark

Re: Cat removal 147

Its perfect at the moment, last time when the other place tried to remove them and failed the idle was messed up, idled to low and rough, but now it seems to be perfect.
