Induction kit AGAIN!

I was just about to buy a BMC CDA from Gazzella and notice the the
Pipercross Viper Induction kit has come down from £250 to £170.
Are they any better?

Re: Induction kit AGAIN!

I had a Viper on my 306 and thought it sounded great and from what I remember it felt alot better too. My mate has had a couple and swears by then too but I have never had a BMC so carnt compair the two.

Idea Re: Induction kit AGAIN!

I have a Pipercross Viper. I'd say it is slightly quieter than the BMC. Howver, I did have to modify the mounting bracket and it took a month to arrive because they appear made to order. It was not a fault with MSW who I bought it from. Perhaps they are more on the ball now though.

It seems less of a generic type kit than the BMC. Possibly slighly more performace. However, the car misfires in heavy rain whilst travelling faster than is sensible. I think that will be true of any cold air feed sealed system though.

Re: Induction kit AGAIN!

I think it is more indicative of how well the cold air collector is positioned. Either that or you drove like a big girl's blouse.

Or maybe I'm just wrong.

Ricey I'm looking at a BMC and tuning at Angel Tuning. Does the BMC cause much more noise outside or inside the cabin? (Other than when you floor it)

Re: Induction kit AGAIN!

I quite fancy this:

Pipercross VIS kits, Velocity Intake Systems

the price is coming down apparently too. a mate has one on a vtec desol thingy and it makes an unbelievable sound. if anything it is too loud. provided it comes with a box for the filter i would expect the gains to be as good if not better than the other options

Noise is proportional to throttle position. Hardly any throttle = hardly any noise.

Re: Induction kit AGAIN!

A filter alone will produce minimal power increases, reducing air velocity, turbulance etc will also produce some extra power, probably more than an uprated filter through a standard run of intake pipes - Which is why the GSR kit shines through as a realistic performance upgrade.
May be worth a look before you thow 170quid at an filter which can be outperformed by one costing a mere 12quid - that was the results at least from gsr, who use red dots rolling road for their testing etc of filters and intakes.
your money, your choice, i'm merely mentioning an other option...

Where can I find details about GSR filters?

This is not a bit of tubing. It is a complete system.

@n ew-alfa-owner - The 15% discount make the performance loss15%cheaper.

Not a single one I have tested was as good as the standard induction. The new JTS OE induction might be an exception being terrible. But haven't had a chance to see the Piperx on a JTS yet.

Peter, You can't continue to post in this style..

Let me give you a call later today. I need a GSR hose anyway.
