Autodelta brake upgrade

Has anyone had the uprated discs & pads from Autodelta on their Brera/159? If so, did it make much of a difference?

I've always found the Brera's brakes to be adequate but not exactly what you would call inspiring. Would like to improve them but don't want to spend the money if the difference is only slight.

Re: Autodelta brake upgrade

If you've got 330mm disks with Brembo calipers just whack some PF pads in

They're the standard fit brakes, so yeah 330mm discs but callipers are "Alfa Romeo" silver-grey ones?

Autolusso fit them for around £150 (IIRC) & they are megga. Check out trailbraker's review

We've got them on our GT and I'll be getting them on the Ti soon

The only downside is additional brake dust but this is easily countered with a decent & cheap wheel sealer

Have you checked out Red Dot

As an AOer you'd get a discount there too

There are plenty of cheaper alternatives - compared to the AD prices - out there too click me

Re: Autodelta brake upgrade

wasnt impressed with my Red Dot pads either

Buy the best pads you can afford. PF or Ferodo are great and many times better than standard pads

And breathe

As you cannot substantiate this claim - I'm not saying you are lying or doubting what you say happened to you BTW - you shouldn't really make posts like this as they can lead to problems for the forum

I though BF made that pretty clear in his post

Speaking from PERSONAL EXPERIENCE

They are better than stock but not as good as the ferodo ds2500 or the PF pads.

Review here on Autodelta brakes. Autodelta Shop

These are used to stop Supercharged versions so i am sure they will be ok for a standard car.

Would you also recommend braided hoses? I know that you supply them and they do improve brake "feel".

Re: Autodelta brake upgrade

The hoses will also help, but normally we do the discs and pads and that is enough.

I've used other brands since, Adelphi, Textar, brembo, EBC none of them faded to the same extent as Red-dot did .... never again

MY life & others are worth more than some-one been afraid of a liable case

Re: Autodelta brake upgrade

On my 2.0L Ts i have fitted 305mm GTA disc, with 5 grooves each side + 4 pot Brembos form a Ferrari 360.

I milled up my own 'radial' brackets from Billet Aluiminum

Pads are Brembo

all for < £300

Well it's good to see you're thinking about the good of the forum and all it's members and not just yourself

It sounds like you might have been driving a bit irresponsibly to get yourself into that sort of situation

Re: Autodelta brake upgrade

I had similar experience with Red Dot pads and vowed never to use them again. The pads were ok when used gently but when pushed they tended to fade very quickly.

Final straw came when I was braking for a roundabout and everything ok, next roundabout the brakes faded completely and I was facing the back end of a truck at 50mph with my brake fully applied and the car not slowing down. Very narrowly avoided the truck and replaced the pads that day with originals.

Got another set from Red Dot and these were no better......this was a few years ago and was discussed here in some depth. Anyway I'm not interested in slagging any company off but I know what works for me.

156 2.5 V6 24v, Cosmos Blue Metallic, Tan Leather, 17” GTA's, 225/45 Michelin PS2's, Full Zender body kit, GTA Headlights, Eibach springs, Koni FSD's, Eibach Anti-roll bars, Ferrari 360 Brembo calipers, DS2500 pads, Squadra ECU, 45mm Intake Runners, Carbon Intake, Dan & Wizard exhaust

156 2.5 V6 Qsystem, Red + Red Leather, Bilstein dampers, DS2500 pads...soon Brembo calipers, 17" GTV Teles

Nomad you are, imho, arrogant & ignorant.

I'm pointing out that RED DOT pads are not as good as people claim them to be.

Did YOU ever use them?

No but I have used them and my experience was not bad. yes, they fade if you push them but no worse than the stock pads. They are road pads, not race pads like the ferodo DS2500.

DILLIGAF

Did you ever go back to Red Dot with your issues - the ones they can actually help you with that is - and ask for their opinion or help

I guessing you didn't... you'd just rather sit behind your computer screen and slag them off over the internet

Next time try calling them.. you'll find them very helpful !!

Re: Autodelta brake upgrade

2 sets same result ...ffs they were brake pads not space rockets.

I have talked to Augusto on several occasions & in fact i disagree with you... he never keep his promise re: another item i wanted & I called him & e-mailed him several time son it.

In the long run i did my own thing.... worked out better
