GTD1756VRK for 1.9 JTDM

Hello Guys,

are there any experiences with the GTD1752VRK / GTD1756VRK Turbo from the BMW X4 that is available from gottuned.com and avd-turbo?

https://gottuned.com/product/1-9-cdt...tilo-saab-9-3/
https://gottuned.com/product/gtd1756...tilo-saab-9-3/

I'm looking for an upgrade for the stock Turbo of the 147 1.9 JTDm 16V 150 HP Engine with the focus on driveability and faster spool.

What I can see from the offer is that it should be plug and play with the pre-welded manifold, only needing a custom downpipe and fitting of the included oil lines. And of course a remap.

What do you think?

I wouldn't use that turbo with billet compressor wheel. You loose the ball bearing benefit and then you can use a GTB2056V.

But it's a nice turbo!

Hi crossshot, thank you for your opinion. Doesn't the GTD1756VRK has ceramic ball bearings? What do you mean by loosing the ball bearing benefit?

I'd expect worse spool and response in low revs from the GTB2056 than from the GTD1756VRK as the turbine is bigger, even though the spool will be better than the stock turbo, as the thread from Joel shows.

from pics arnt they both mirror image to your 147 ie hot side and cold side will be incorrect would require many mods to run these on your 147

After looking at the images again i think you are right sussexa.

But since they need to be welded on the manifold anyway, why not weld it on the other way round and reclock the compressor housing to match the piping of the Alfa?

If you want to say that it is probably more work than fitting a GTB2056v, i'll agree with you.

I'm mostly curious if the gtd series performs better on the low end of the rev range then the gtb2056 or a stock hybrid turbo.
