147 jtd 8v turbo upgrade?

Hey all,

I have read most of the turbo thread, I want to give you my requirement and see what would people recommend me?

I am looking for a as close to plug and play solution as possible in terms of either getting another turbo or manifold and turbo that bolts on. So something that the current downpipe will slot on to.

Not looking for mega power but if hitting the 150~170 range would be good. The car had a remap already, just looking for slightly more power, it's the 115 bhp version.

Thanks for your advice!
Ming

The 150HP JTDm turbo is a good solution. You only need to modify the exhaust manifold and turbin housing holes for the screws..

Fantastic! I should be able to do that. What sort of tools do people use? I only got Tim basic stuff like a drill.

Also you got the code for that turbo so I can search for it on eBay? I guess that's also the 16v jtd turbo?

Thanks

There are different 16V turbos available. The 55214063 or 55205370 is the correct number for the 150hp JTDm turbo. It is the same like the 170hp JTDm ducati corse. And don't buy a cheap refurbished turbo! The most refurbished turbos are in bad condition.

Here you can buy it http://www.jtd-performance.com/en/tu...tdm-16v-detail

To make the holes bigger, i have used a rotary tool like this http://images.dremeleurope.com/gener...eries-2415.jpg
And to cut the holes, i have used an angle grinder.

Do you mean the 16V exhaust manifold? It's complete different and fits not on the 8V head.

My bank balance don't allowed me to get the turbo you linked, so i did find this:

Instead of modding the manifold, could i modified the turbo flange instead?

Thanks

If you have not enough money, buy a used turbo with low mileage. It's the better choice! Refurbised turbos under 400 EUR have a bad quality (my experience). I bought a damaged JTDm turbo for 200 EUR and let it repair by a professional for 450 EUR (complete new CHRA).

If you buy a turbo, look at the vacuum actuator. There must be a green garrett label. If there is no garrett label, do not buy it! I can be a refurbished one...

This one looks good, if the picutres are real. The pictures shows a original turbo

thanks again! I really I can find a manifold and turbo with the modification needed!

If anyone willing to help I can buy a used manifold and a turbo for someone to enlarge for me.

Thanks
