Question 156 3.0 Turbo Questions / Advice

Hello Everyone

I have been a reader for the past few years getting advice from all your threads .
as i have been doing a complete car strip down repair with a engine conversion from 2.5 to 3.0
All has gone well but before i finish up there are a couple of questions i cant find any answer for. I will list them here as i pay them attention and cure.

1st being a sensor i am not sure what its for . 3.0 166 automatic engine cf3 , What is the sensor that screws into the engine block behind the aircon pump just to the side of the dip stick end. It plugs into the engine loom connect next to the front lambda plug.,

thanks ... more to come

I think that sensor is the oil level sensor, most V6s don't have one in the 156/147/GT/GTV.

Is this the one you mean? Not a great photo from the parts catalogue...

Also excited to hear the stories to come. I too have a 3.0 in a 156 (2.5 ECU) with fast road cams and loving it. A turbo on it would be such a sweet treat

Sorry ive not replied its been hectic over xmas etc.

I will give full details of build shortly . As for where i am at .. i am about to refit the engine after testing and spraying the engine bay.

I have a question if anyone can help.

Blow through MAF sensor , I have had a read on other car web sites about this and some say its a good thing as it is more accurate with volume if using a none recycle dump valve and air temp (on turbo engines) as air does heat up when compressed .

Has anyone done this (fit the MAF next to the throttle body) or have any details on how this works with a retro fitted turbo on a Alfa 3.0 engine . it all reads like it works in theory and a simple thing to do.

Any info will be great . happy new year all

The only downside I can see to that is you are going to have airflow flowing backwards over the MAF when the throttle is closed and the BOV is open. But I guess at this point fuel injection is almost zero anyway, so hopefully not an issue.

i agree with that i have not got a BOV at the moment but if i do use one i guess i will have to locate the MAF as close to the Throttle Body as possible to reduce that effect
