CTEK TEK charger comfort connector

Hi all,

I have the brilliant CTEK MXS 5.0 charger and have relied on it a several times to recondition a few batteries.

My 156 is not being used at the moment but I need to keep the battery in it and topped up as it is in the way of the garaged 155 which I do like to use and it needs to be moved from time to time. I want a really quick way to connect and disconnect the charger without having to pop the bonnet each time and run an extension cable from the garage.

I have bought this: https://www.amazon.co.uk/CTEK-CTE-56...6XA787GBV5Z8FG

I will buy this:

My question is, can I wire the charging cable to a permanent 12V and an earth wire (or direct to the body) cable at the rear of the car or does it HAVE to go direct to the battery? In asking this, I realise that it should be fine as this product exists (although I don't know if Alfas ciggy lighter sockets are permanent 12V?)

yes it's ok. if you can't find a feed though, just put a wire from the back towards the battery. The ground you can put anywhere.

Thanks, I'll get on with it before it drains again.

Managed to install this over Christmas. I found a relay behind the carpet on the right - not sure what it does but it had a permanent 12V so tapped in to that. Pretty difficult soldering in confined places but it seems fine and is keeping the battery topped up whilst it is on SORN.
